Has anyone experienced a second round of hair loss? I’m not 100% sure it is a massive amount like last time, but I suddenly noticed balding spots when I put my hair up, my drain was clogged, and when I dried my hair it felt thinner. Am I imagining things? It is about one year since the last round, in which I lost at least 50% of my hair, and about 14 months since my gastric bypass. Didn’t have any issues with vitamins/minerals at 1 year. Any ideas?

Did you have thinning hair before the surgery? How old are you? Other than nutritionally, I don't know what else could be causing it. Mine is hereditary.

I'd check with my PCP or surgeon. Hair loss that far out from surgery usually isn't telogen effluvium, the loss that is common after bariatric surgery (and can be a side effect of any major surgery, actually). It may be related to a nutrient deficiency or something. At any rate, I'd certainly mention it to my doctor.

Yes, this is what our surgery center told us. In addition to nutrient deficiency (are you taking your bariatric vitamins every single day?, are you getting enough protein, etc) it could be a hormone/thyroid issue.
