TT next month. Faja recommendations needed please.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have scheduled my TT surgery for next month. I know the surgeon mentioned that I will be given a binder but I have read that most people buy a faja. A faja is a girdle; right?

What ones do you recommend? I would like to be prepared before the surgery. 😊

Thanks much!

Hi!! I heard about the faja a lot too. I ordered a faja on Amazon but returned it. I felt they were too restricting for me. I used my binder/s for a long time. I had a total of two. The original got kinda worn after a bit so I got a second one from my surgeon. But my surgeon said the binder was just fine and that he didn’t think I needed a faja but if I wanted to that was fine. Ultimately I chose to stick w the binder.
Now I still wear those Spanx type tank tops most days under my clothes. The tank goes down to the top of my thighs. I still like the support even though I don’t actually need it.
When is your surgery next month? So exciting. Are you having anything else done while in there?

Hi,

I am planning on only doing the TT. I’m 2+ years post vsg and that is the big issue for me.

How far out from TT are you? Are you happy?

Thanks!

Oops…1/19 is the date. I’m anticipating 2 weeks out from work with possibly working remotely the second week. Dreading the drains but nobody near by does the drainless TT.

Had mine last Jan. I did a sort of mommy make over. I did full Tummy Tuck w muscle tightening, breast aug w lift.
Drains for suck but worth it in the end right?! It’s only for a short time.

I was given binders and used them until the faja i ordered off Amazon came. Unfortunately the faja was too big (and it didn’t come in smaller sizes) so I ended up wearing my binder on top of it. I liked it this way cuz the binder stayed put with the faja under and was less itchy overall. I also liked how i didn’t get muffin tops (nor muffin bottoms, lol) with this setup.

So how bad is the swelling after the surgery? Will I be able to fit into my work clothing? I tend to wear dresses or elastic waist pants (hence the need for TT).

There was some swelling, but not so much that I couldn’t fit into my pre-surgery pants just fine. For me (others may be different), my clothing size didn’t change at all. I just didn’t have skin oozing out the tops of my pants anymore, lol. I also had an boob lift with excess side boob skin removed, so i longer had skin oozing out my tank top arm holes…and shirt sizes also remained the same.

when is your TT scheduled? So excited for you! PS is a game changer!!!

I’m scheduled for 1/19 so a month away! I’m excited and of course, nervous. I’m am most dreading the drains. Blech! I had a drain once from a surgery for a day or so and despised it.

I was going to do the lift but decided to wait because I wasn’t convinced I really needed it and that it wouldn’t change much.

However, the TT should make a big difference in my life!

I had 360 lower body lift in Aug 2020 along with brachioplasty. I used products from Marena for both areas. They are medical grade compression garments and recommended by my PS. They were expensive but worth it to me. I wasn't sure what size to order so I waited until after my surgery to figure that out. That worked out fine because I had drains on the lower half for a while and used "ACE" type bandages on my arms until I got my garments. Good luck with your surgery. I'll be having my 3rd and final round of plastics on Jan 20. I'll be having thigh lift and revision of a couple of scars from the previous surgeries.

Day 2 post Tummy Tuck. I’m sore but honestly feel better than I expected. Can’t wait for the drains to be out and then I’m sure I will feel normal. The results look good so far. No more folded roll hanging! Yeah!!

When I had my TT I had the 360 so I had 4 drains, 2 came out at 3 weeks and the other 2 at 4 weeks. It is a pain in the butt but worth it because all that stuff that comes out would either come out your incision or make more swelling. Sounds like you are doing well. Isn't plastic surgery amazing?

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
