My surgery was 12/1. Feeling better each day. I also had a hiatal hernia. That was a surprise but explains a lot of my discomfort before surgery.

Mine was dec 1 and I’m feeling way more pain than I’d anticipated! It’s hard to walk around. Surgeon thinks a stitch in the muscle may have trapped a nerve and says I just have to take a ton of pain killers until the stiches dissolve. Ugh. I’ve had a bunch of surgeries in the last couple of years and hadn’t had many problems so I’m feeling sorry for myself . Anyone else in the same boat?

Hello, I'm new here. I was recently sleeved on Dec 2, Any suggestion to get past this first week.

Hi! I’m new too and was sleeved dec 1 - I’m miserable! I’m usually able to positive self talk my way through most things but holy *%#!!!! Basically I’m still having to stay in bed most of the time, going to sit in a chair to sip premiere shakes and Protein Water and water, and walking gently around the bedroom clutching my upper left torso to stop it jiggling around, which feels like I’m being ripped open. Today I shrieked like a lunatic banshee because I raise my left knee too quickly trying to change into fresh pjs. I’d love some tips for getting through this too :) I am binging Hallmark holiday movies and shopping on thredUP and Poshmark for smaller clothes in an attempt to stay positive. I spent ages researching this and needed it and I know this phase shall pass. I’m just quite keen on knowing exactly WHEN?!?! I think I was a bit delusional about how quickly I’d recover from this. It’s a lot and I can’t whine to my friends as I’ve only told one of them. Anyway, I jumped online today to find some fellow sleevers foR mutual support - it’s nice knowing I’m not alone and just think - we will all be emerging next spring like gorgeous butterflies…

I suggest getting a compression wrap for your abdomen. There are a multitude of varieties to include standard 4 inch wrap that adheres to itself.

i was in pain and did require a trip to the ER a few days post op because the pain got out of control. I required about 2 weeks of pain meds and I’m on the road to recovery.

In all seriousness, wrap your abdomen and it will hold everything in tight so you aren’t relying upon your abdominal muscles.

I was sleeved yesterday! I could nearly stay awake all day. Gas pain wasn’t great although getting better. Incisional pain is a bit&@ though! Whenever I ask how long things will take to stop hurting I hear the “everyone’s journey is different ”thing, which doesn’t help!

15 more days of liquid before surgery. Been on this already more than that. I can’t wait to get real food. I have never been a sweets person and all these Protein Shakes are starting to get to me. I drank Water all day and just stared at the the shakes like yes I know I have to drink you but I don’t wanna. How is everyone else doing with their preop liquid phase?!

Hi had VSG operation 10 hrs ago Dec. 7 and just posting in the wee hrs from the clinic ;) Sipping on Water and ice chips, mouth feels pretty dry but judging from the last bathroom visit I am well-hydrated. Have been for a few short walks with the amazing staff.

Pain is tolerable though needing something every couple hrs, last time just tried plain tylenol so let's hope it works. Nurses are giving me Zofran and Gravol and I have zero nausea.

Can't believe the day finally came!

Sorry you are on that horrible liquid diet. I started my "liver shrinking diet" Sunday and it's bearable.

I was sleeved Dec 2 and I’m doing great! I have been up and walking. Getting all my Water and Protein. Those first few days I was absolutely miserable and questioning why I did this to myself but I had to remind myself of my why.

I went vegan - raw vegan - this year and lost a great amount of weight but wanted to be as full of Vitamins and nutrition as possible before surgery. I think I might get some spinach and berries and do a green smoothie. My labs look great - just saw my endocrinologist Monday. My BS is 112 - I was awitched off all my meds to just metformjn and sugars have gone up but very slightly. She said my body is responding so well to the liquid diet that she is stopping all meds before surgery and doesn’t think I’ll need them again after that. I follow up January 10th with her. I tried vegi broth and chicken broth which was terrible. Finally got some low sodium v8 juice that should help. 14 day count down to surgery now! I’ve made it this far I’ve got this!!! 😀

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
