Hi Everyone,

I recently set my gastric sleeve surgery date for September 10th. I have been trying to do as much research as possible. Luckily I stumbled upon this page and I have read about all kind of complications that were never brought to my attention by my surgeon or his staff. I am starting to have some serious second thoughts. I would appreciate any and all insight as to was the procedure worth it? Do you regret it? Do you feel like your life has improved? Has it declined? Am I over thinking this? What should I be aware of? Should I try to loose the 100lbs the old fashion way?

Hi there, I had a lot of the same worries but now I am glad I did it. For me I was in a bit of pain until about day 4-5 but Tylenol helped. I would rather go through sleeve surgery again then get my tonsils removed lol. Been there, done that at 30 and that was much more painful than this surgery. As for drinking, by day 5, I could take small drinks without discomfort and by day 10 I could take normal pre-surgery drinks of everything. I’m just starting on the puréed/soft stuff and so far can get about 1-2oz of yogurt and scrambled eggs down without a problem. Incisions healed nicely and I have so much more energy than I did two weeks ago. I’ve lost 17lbs in 14 days :) I talked myself out of surgery for 3 years…wish I hadn’t. Good luck with whatever you decide!

No regrets here. After the healing process, it's been pretty easy. Hit my goal in around 6 months. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. My quality of life has dramatically improved.

I'm just guessing if you are thinking of getting surgery, you have already tried to lose the weight the old fashioned way and it hasn't worked before. You have no logical reason to believe that you can somehow lose the weight on your own this time when you weren't able to do it before. You NEED this surgery. Yes, the surgery is definitely worth it. It helps you lose weight and the weight loss actually lasts. Your quality of life will only improve after the surgery. Yes, the first month after surgery is hard and you can't eat the things you want to eat. After about 2 months, you are able to start back eating "regular" foods, just in smaller quantities. It will all be fine.

I am just a week out from surgery, and I think I'm in the stage when people are usually having a lot of regrets, but I'm very happy so far. The pain has been very minimal and after 4 or 5 days I was able to get up and live a relatively normal life. I'm a little bit tired of sipping sipping sipping all day long lol but I am seeing the results every day already.

I had no pain after surgery just a little discomfort. I did not need to take any of the prescribed pain medications or Tylenol. I have always had acid reflux and so far it seems to be a little better than it was before. I take the medications that I took before and it is fine.

So it's been good for me so far!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
