Stress Eating Post-Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I'm finding myself falling back into the trap of stress eating. I'm a year out and the last few weeks have probably been the most stressful of my life. I was doing really well handling my feelings because I was able to run and distract myself. The last few days though I haven't had time to run and have been finding myself looking for Snacks even though I know I'm not hungry. I know I should have the will power to just not eat something but its not that easy. If someone has any advice on this please help. I'm trying to avoid falling into bad and unhealthy habits of overeating and I could really use some words of encouragement or advice.

Sorry to hear you're dealing with so much stress... Maybe try having a cup of tea when you feel like stress eating? I find that a nice, warm drink helps to fill me up and it also tastes good, so helps me avoid snacking.

I'm so sorry for the stress you are under! My advice would be to keep slider foods out of the house (chips, Cookies, anything that you can eat a lot of without feeling restriction). When you feel the urge to snack, make it something Protein packed that will fill you up. lunch meat roll ups, cubed cheese, deviled eggs, etc. Help your tool do the work for you! Good luck!!

I would do a self care reboot and contact a therapist. For self care, I buy myself beautiful flowers (lavender colored roses are my fave), take a bubble bath, put on some music and dance, maybe get a massage or pedicure. Whatever you like and feels good!

I think I am wanting Snacks more often than I should. Perhaps this is because I can't eat very much during my regular meal and my body wants more? I think to deal with this issue I'm going to go back to recording my food to actually understand how much food I'm taking in and I'm going to get some therapy. I think that the surgery helped my fat body, it didn't help my fat head...lol. Before surgery I tried many things to help me get it "right" although I never did. There are a ton of reasons why I ate and why I eat now. I want it to be about nourishing my body and not about all the other reasons why I want to eat.

I still log my food at (almost) six years out. I get off track too easily if I stop logging for more than a few days.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
