Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

Its the small things that count! I don't look like I'm 12 months pregnant anymore. Good news the stall out that was happening, is finally over after 5 weeks! Finally dropped 3 more pounds, I'll take it. My hair is falling out like there is no tomorrow. Like a handful every time I brush. I know this is normal, I expect after the first 6 months it will lighten up. I'm at 4 months. Take all my Vitamins. Even take a fish oil supplement because it works so good for my dogs fur, thought I'd try people fish oil. The jurys still out.

Omg TWELVE months pregnant…that would be a sight to behold 😂

Yay on the stall breaking and boo about the hair…but like u said, its all par for the course, so hang in there.

P.S. Keep an eye on the fish oil intake it may cause lower blood pressure (among other things in high doses) and with the already lowered blood pressure due to surgery and weight loss, you may get woozy.

Good Luck! ❤️

I just got a DEXA scan and my body fat % went from 51.6% a year ago to 35.9% today! I'm almost in a normal range (for my age, 23-33%). I just started working out with a trainer and he has given me body weight exercises, so hopefully that will help too.

Does your insurance pay for them? If not, do you mind me asking how much they cost?

My insurance doesn't pay for them. There are "diagnostic" quality DEXA scans like you would get for osteoporosis that insurance sometimes covers, but those can cost thousands. The DEXA scans you can get for "sports" purposes are much less expensive. The place I go charges $99. I have heard of them costing less in smaller cities or more like $150 sometimes.

The body fat scales are totally worthless from what I've read.

Thanks. Yea, I never use all the different things on my scale. I just use it for weight, I never believed it was accurate. Although, I don't have a good reason other than just my thoughts. haha

People don't wait for me on the stairs anymore. Before I lost weight, if I was going up or down stairs and someone else was coming in the opposite direction, the other person would wait until I got all the way to the top or bottom because there wasn't enough room for both of us to pass. Now, when I'm on the stairs and someone else is going in the opposite direction, they often just keep on going.

Also, when I was big, it seemed like people would sometimes move over when they saw me walking down the hall -- sometimes practically diving out of the way as if I was going to mow them down (I really felt quite offended, TBH). That doesn't happen anymore, either.

Yeah, sometimes when people scurried out of my way, I wanted to assure them that obesity isn't contagious.

When I turned 50, my friends at the exercise class I go to got me a t-shirt that I loved but never wore because it didn't quite fit. I didn't want to make them feel bad, so never told them unless they asked. That was June 2020. My first class back after surgery was yesterday and I wore the shirt and they noticed. Very happy moment!

It's such a bizarre feeling when you get called "gorgeous" after so many years 🤷🏻‍♀️

Took my kids to theme parks on vacation and there was never a single concern that I wouldn’t fit on the rides. They had to have a person step off the ride due to his weight and I felt so bad for him. Wondering if you’ll be able to get the bar down is such a horrible feeling.

We were just riding the kiddie rides because my children are young but it was amazing that I was able to take them there and not spend any mental energy on worrying about fitting. Also it was hot but I wasn’t a sweaty mess, nor did I lose energy halfway through the day! And the pictures of us on vacation are nice family photos without me trying to hide behind walls or people.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
