Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some comfort words from any veterans out there who've had gastric bypass surgery a while ago, I had mine on the 12th, so this past Monday, it's day 1 and a half of being home now, and I feel super uncomfortable, super bloated, like I can't drink or think of drinking anything. I can barely fit the Protein Shake and a bit of Water, but I'm feeling too full and gassy. Is that normal? I've tried walking several times a day, they gave me tablets for gas, and tried drinking as much water as possible, but obviously there's always that worry in the back of your head that you've done something wrong or that something is wrong. How was your first few days home??

Sleever here, but sounds about normal. Once the swelling a such goes down, it’s a TON easier to drink and far less uncomfortable.

I was so bloated with the air and swelling in my abdomen post-op, I looked about 9 months pregnant for about a week. It will get better. Keep walking. Keep sipping Protein Drinks, Water, etc. It will get easier. 💕😊

I'm a week out from sleeve. It sounds a lot like my first few days. One thing I found was that warm liquids seemed to help because they did not stop in my chest. I still have some of the pain when I eat (drink) too fast but nothing like the first 3 days when my chest really hurt from the gas.

I am 7 days post op and that is exactly what I went through. Like everyone has said keep working on your fluids. The first 3 days were the worst I found that drinking standing up really helped and I agree warm liquids felt better.

Thank you so much guys! I endemic up having to go back to the doctors as I wasnt tolerating the Protein I was drinking, and was running a fever from not being able to drink any more liquids, I'm now back home and hoping that this new protein will feel better...anyone else had diarrhea first few days out? Hahaha gosh you lose the hability to feel shame of certain topics quick after this surgery

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
