Gastric Sleeve Surgery in Tijuana/Experiences

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm considering getting Gastric Sleeve Surgery in Tijuana Mexico. My Health Insurance will not cover for me to get weight loss surgery, and Mexico is the cheaper option for me. Can anyone share their experiences/ weight loss/cost with me for surgery either in Mexico or the United States?

Hi,

I’m not sure if your familiar with the YouTube channel My Level 10 Life, but the lady who has the channel had hers done there and had nothing , but good things to say! She also talks about the payment process and challenges etc. good luck!

I had a gastric sleeve done on May 13, 2021 by Dr. Fernando Garcia. I went with Tijuana Bariatrics to get the whole travel package. They picked me up from San Diego airport, drove me across the border and to the Marriott hotel in Tijuana (very nice). They picked me and a couple other women up the next morning to go to the hospital for pre-op labs and then surgery. I stayed one night in the hospital (there were options for hospitals varying in cost. I chose the least expensive one and was very happy with the cleanliness and staff). I went back to the hotel the next day (you can stay another night in the hospital if you want to) and they drove me back across the border the next day. Some people choose to stay one more day than I did but I was good to go and anxious to get back.

Great experience with all the staff and doctor. Saved me thousands of dollars.

No experience with the procedure in Mexico, but I lived in Tijuana for a short time and after that would stay at the Hotel Ticuán, which has rented an entire floor to one of the bariatric clinics (maybe Hospital Jerusalén? not sure) as a recovery floor. If anyone has questions about the city itself (safety, transportation, where your spouse/partner/SO should eat, etc.), please don't hesitate to reach out. Tijuas is one of the most misjudged cities on Earth.

I am scheduled to have VSG on 9/21 with Dr. Illan. He is one of the best bariatric surgeons in Mx. and comes HIGHLY recommended. He has a provate FB group for patients that he, his nutritionist, and his patients t coordinator are heavily engaged in. I scheduled about 6 weeks ago and have been extremely impressed with the process. Cost for VSG is $4900, which includes valet to and from the airport, pre-op testing, surgery, 2 nights at the hospital, hotel for 1 night, meds, etc. The only thing not covered is my flight and the extra night I'll be staying at the hotel (by choice). If you're considering Medical Tourism, I definitely recommend Dr. Illan and Hospital BC.

I had sleeve at CER Hospital with Dr. Carlos. It was sparking clean, I had great care! No hotel involved, I was at hospital 3 days. I followed the pre op 100% which made surgery easier and quicker. We wanted for nothing. Pick up and drop off @ San Diego airport . It was easy peasy and they were great. Surgery 6/22 and I am already off all my diabetic meds and a1c Is improved. It was a great experience!!!!

Just had my sleeve done with Dr. Elias Ortiz at his Bariatric center in Tijuana. 2 nights in the hospital, 3 nights in the Grand Hotel Tijuana, shuttles to and from the San Diego airport. Wanted for nothing the entire stay. Was wonderfully cared for! $4500.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
