This journey has not been easy for me

Recommended Posts

My surgery was 3/3 the first day was fine, but the second day I was throwing up green Fluid running a fever of 101. My doctors husband told the nurse to stop giving me liquids and put steroids in my IV. The next day I felt ok so I was discharged Saturday. Monday my mouth produced excessive salvia and today I was doing fine until I ate Jello. I vomited I have these disgusting burps and always nauseated burping up this nasty tasting fluid. I really don’t want to regret my surgery but I’m not getting a break

I don't know if it was a fluke or if it's the jello... because I couldn't handle Jello after my surgery. It made me feel like my stomach was doing flips and I had an excess of saliva as well. It also made me burp as well. Maybe avoid the jello and call your surgeon tomorrow for advice.

Thank you, the burps taste and smell horrible. I have my 1st post op appointment Thursday and I will definitely go there with a lot of questions.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Take all meds as directed and keep in close touch with your doctor if you can't get your fluids in.

I cannot eat Jello now after surgery. I had mine on 3/3 also and I loved it before surgery now just the thought of it makes me gag. You have to figure out what is best for you and your new stomach. For instance, I can only tolerate Protein Shakes if they are ice cold. When they are room temperature it is extremely hard for me to get down. It took me a while to realize this but once I did I was very happy. My recovery has been pretty good but I know what you mean. I don’t think a lot of us realize how big of a change it is until we actually go through it. I want to be out and about and doing things I normally do but i can’t right now and that’s a huge disappointment. My husband always says this is temporary and I know it is but I just want the healing part to be over. Stay strong girl you got this!

I just want to figure out why my reflux and burps taste like bile once that is figured out I’m sure I will be way happier. It’s good to know you’re doing well.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
