Feeling your band?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can feel their band. I was suprised yesterday. My port is in the middle and then I felt my band at the left. I was concerned because I started yoga again (after being banded on Nov. 13) and I thought I had done something wrong. I feel fine though - no problems with eating. It did make me feel nauseated when I felt the band. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi nicraelle

I can feel my port but not the band. My doc told me that because I didnt have a lot of "fat stores" at the site where they normally put the port, I would be able to feel it more than most.

It's kind of annoying cuz right night it sort of bulges at the port site but I can't feel the band itself.

If you're concerned, I'd ask your surgeon, but it should be fine.

LMK what you find out!

I tried but I can't feel the band. I can definitely feel the port, though it becomes less prominent with each passing day.

Thank you, I hadn't heard back from my surgeon so I was concerned. It is a strange feeling no pain - but the port and the band can both be felt.

Are you saying that you can feel the band through your skin or that you can feel the band inside you? I sometimes get the feeling that I can feel the band around my stomach. I feel a tightness, sometimes a pain right below my breastbone and to me it feels like I can feel the band. Other times I think it's probably gas?

I can definitely feel my port through my skin. I actually like feeling it there because I know where it is and that it will be easy to access.

I can feel the band through my skin. Strange! It seems like my stomach has moved. I was thinking my stomach is behind my port - not to the side. Still haven't heard from my surgeon - I called and emailed.

Just a thought... are you sure it's your band you're feeling? Perhaps it's scar tissue from your surgery?

I hope your doctor gets back to you soon so you can set your mind at ease.

That is really strange because the area of stomach that is banded is behind your liver so I'm not sure how anyone could feel it through the skin. This is very interesting. I can't wait to hear what the Doc says. Please let us know.

Actually it's quite common for people to think they're feeling the band, especially when they're laying on their backs. Most often what they're actually feeling is either a chunk of scar tissue, or bones, joints, etc. that they've never felt before (because there was too much fat in the way).

I had a banded friend call me up once, freaking because she thought she could feel her band. I went over and felt what she was feeling... come to find out it was either the body or xyphoid p. of her sternum WOW, was she relived!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
