Weight Loss vs Measurements

Recommended Posts

Hi

Just wondering if anyone did their measurements early on in the weight loss process? I'm officially 2 months 3 days post surgery & have lost 56lb, which for me is about 47% of my excess weight. I'm over the moon. So glad I read this forum & decided to make the best decision of my life!

Apart from my chest though my measurements don't seem to be be reducing much. I don't see how that's possible, I'm at least 3 sizes smaller in clothes.

Should I ignore it? Am I just doing them badly? Pretty sure I'm measuring the same spot (only measuring once a month). Its a small complaint, I'm not feeling negative just a bit confused.

Sounds like a measurement issue, as I am sure you have lost many inches all over. Is someone helping you with your measurements? If not, it might be helpful to have assistance and another set of eyes for consistency. If there is no one to help you, you could look into a smart measure tape like this one.

I have not tried a smart measure tape, but the idea makes sense to me. My hubby has helped me with measurements from before and after.

Congratulations and good luck! 😊

I think I gained an inch.

I was an every-Wednesday measure-er. I did this every week starting 2 weeks before surgery until I got to goal.

I found that different areas of my body would shrink at different times. In the very beginning (for me), the inches were dropping at a much faster rate on my stomach/waist measurement vs. anywhere else. My "slowest" areas of inch loss (in terms of percentages, not total) was my calves and hips.

My inches and lbs don't always seem to line up. Some months I'd have 10+ lbs of loss and my measurements would barely move. Other months I'd only lose 5ish lbs and my measurements would drop a lot. I've also found as I get closer to goal, each lbs makes a much bigger difference. When I was at my heaviest I could lost 20-30 lbs and it would barely be noticeable.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
