Hey friends! I’m also starting to lose again after a stall! Feeling pretty good, a little abdominal pain from when I tried to start dancing about a week ago (lol...), I called my surgeon’s office and they told me to cool my jets until my next follow up which is the 20th. They said hey, we know you’re eager for your new life to start, and you’re feeling pretty good, but you DID just have surgery. So since then I took a couple of days to recoup that pain, and now I’m just walking when I feel up to it (30-45 minutes a day most days, but in 4-5 spurts at a time!).

So excited to advance my diet more, I’m doing really well. I haven’t gotten sick at all!

@RTL1234 I am doing fine! I am on my period today (it didn't change my cycle or anything) and am super tired. I already am battling fatigue after surgery but on top of the period, I am super tired. How are you doing? Do any of you have instagrams that I could follow? I've begun mine but still too nervous to leave it open to the world but let me know if you want to follow too. I am ANewJourneyAwaiting. I've not done my weekly weigh-in because of my TOM. I will next week. I did have two nonscale victories. I jacket that used to kind of fit but be way way too tight on my upper arms is now loose! Like a normal oversized jean jacket and a ring that didnt fit my ring finger anymore is now too loose for my ring finger and fits the pointer finger. :) Super happy. And I got my engraved medical ID Bracelet.

@K Be Good! To echo what RTL said, I hiccup and burp all the time. After Water, after food, just whenever. Ha, ha. I hope you feel better soon and don't have COVID! Stay safe out there!

@mil_unloaded I did a 2 mile walk the other day as you saw, and my mom told me to cool my jets too, as I am only 3 weeks out of a major surgery. Glad you are getting your exercise in and not feeling sick! I've only had one bad pouch day. You are doing amazing!

How is everyone doing other wise?

Officially stalling over here. Been around 271 for a week now. Sigh.

I think completely normal. I hit a stall and in looking back, I wasn't eating much, but also wasn't eating the right foods. I think it's important to stick to the meal plan and vary slightly...which I wasn't doing as I wanted to see how my stomach reacted. Stick with it! The week after my 8 day stall, I lost 9 lbs...it'll happen.

Doing phenomenal over here! Hope everyone is doing well! I’m down about 41lbs from my highest. I walked almost a mile two days ago and again yesterday afternoon. (This morning I was busy so I haven’t yet today!) I’m on my week 4 diet now—which adds poultry, fish, deli meat, canned or frozen fruits and vegetables. I spoke to my dietitian last night and she told me I didn’t need to drink Protein Drinks, that eventually I’ll eat my Protein. That was a relief because I can’t stand most of the protein drinks.

Glad you are doing so well @mil_unloaded!!!

Things are going fine over here as well. Down 46 lbs from my highest, about 39 since pre op (-19) and then post op so far. I’m excited to be starting soft foods and had some deli meat and cheese today and I was so happy. Lol! I’ve actually tried a few things over the last few days. So far everything has been well. I definitely can feel when something sits really heavy. It just is so nice to feel like I’m eating “real” food again.

So, I am 43lbs from my highest. And 20lbs at almost the 4 week mark. From what you guys are saying, I’m right on track. I was going to ask if 20lbs in 4 weeks was slow or not.

Hey all! I had a follow up today and I’ve lost 50lbs from my highest! 42 from pre-op. Very excited to hit this mark!

I asked today about the pace and they said 8-10lbs a month for the first 6 months. She said that may vary obviously here and there but overall is a good average to go by.

I got new macros today and new calories for the next phase of the diet. 700-900 per day. Seems like a lot lol.

I feel like each person has a different path and along the way you will get better results than we deserve and other times we get worse results than what we deserve. I started my journey 12/29/19 and have lost 89 lbs since my highest and 40 lbs of that since my surgery on 12/2/20. I've had unexpected losses of 1.8 lbs and also gains of .8 lbs in one day with no real reason for it. I've also started to see a slowing of weight loss since doing my 1 mile treadmill walk and some resistance band work outs about 4-5 days per week in the last 2 weeks. My mind is starting to get away from the number on the scale to how I look and more importantly how I feel. Losing 8" from my waist and dropping from 3XL to XL has inspired me and adding some tanning salon fake sun has made me feel great.

I enjoy reading everyone's progress, keep up the work!

Ok. I really thought I was going to get a pass on this Hair loss thing. I have long, thick hair and it was doing fine until last week. I neglected to read in previous post it starts at about 3 months post op. So if your hair has started falling out, now is the time. I was just getting over my last c-section hair loss. I should have known. Thinking about chopping it all off.

I haven't experienced any hair loss...yet. I'm 2+ months post surgery and the weight continues to fall off, but the hair is holding tight. Good luck to you, hopefully it's a short and mild set-back.

Hi All, I am new to this thread and was glad to read everyone’s stories and victories. Congrats All.
As for me, I got my bypass done on 12/23/20. It was a revision from sleeve which was done in 2017. Had to get bypass surgery for gerd as well as weight loss. In past 8 weeks now, my gerd is improved, but I have lost only 14lbs of weight. I wanted to ask if this is normal. Is there anything that I should be doing to increase my weight loss. Please advice. I am really disheartened at this stage.

Oh nooooo! I was hoping to be the exclusion to the hair loss rule myself. My youngest is a year and my hair is already ridiculous. The “baby” hair. 😭 I’m so nervous it’s going to get so much worse. Are you using Biotin? I am using a biotin plus (basically hair skin nails) Vitamin Patch.

No. I’ve been trying to get my Vitamin as and Calcium in. I can’t imagine adding more.

On a side note I didn’t realize how much I missed crossing my legs.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
