Calorie intake during pre op diet

Recommended Posts

What does your pre op diet amount to calorie wise? I’m halfway through second week, I’m glad for most after 3 days it gets better for most, I’ve only started feeling something like myself in the last 24 hours. I’ve been averaging around 600ish calories per day, though yesterday was 1000 and today just under 800.

Hi Marvy,

I have 4 Optifast shakes per day which amounts to 900 calories. I'm on Day 3 and starting to feel less hungry. I have to do this for 3 weeks.

Good luck on your journey

I was on Optifast too...had to do 3 a day for two weeks, my daily totals from this were about 600 cals. Though I remember the last maybe 4-5 days I only had 2 a day (was getting Protein Shake burnout).

I had two flavours: chocolate and vanilla. The vanilla was way too sweet for my liking so I ended up adding twice the amount of Water to the powder packet (I still have a few vanillas in my pantry that I never ended up using...i really should throw those out.) The chocolate was better, though I added 2 tsp of Decaf instant coffee crystals to it to make it more palatable.

Oh, and I blended them up with a bunch of ice when I drank them.

I like the Optifast shakes. To the vanilla I have added Mio Water enhancers so if I want something a little fruity it is great. I just had blueberry/raspberry and it was good.

I like the idea about adding instant coffee to the chocolate. Someone else told me to add mint extract.

Day 4 for me!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
