You need a certain amount of Protein a day and you can't get that with Clear Liquids alone so yes, you need the Protein Shakes until you can reach your protein goal on your own. For gastric sleeve I believe it's 50-60g of protein. My own surgery is 80-100 so you have it much easier lol

Hi I am 5 days post op and wanted to know if its necessary to drink Protein Shakes or i can just keep going with Clear Liquids only? Thank you

I guess I'd come back at you with "Why would you want to do that?"

Clear liquids have limited nutritional value. The purpose of them is to maintain hydration while you give your GI system a rest. Progressing your diet to a full liquid (protein shakes) provides additional nutrition.

If you'd like to stay on clear liquids out of fear, I'd recommend just taking it slow. Maybe 1 ounce at a time.

Hi you can drink Protein h20 or protein waters that have 20g protein in if you want and your surgeon says is ok. Mine did. I also been taking a chewable Multivitamin from a sample bag i got from Celebrate though. I am currently in purees but still try to choke down some shake because its just so high protein there really is nothing comparable to that 30 grams.. if you can get it down that is

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
