Hi! My surgery date is September 9th. I'm so happy to be a part of one of these threads now! I'd love to have some surgery buddies too. ?

  • September 16th for me. Less than a month away now.

  • Sept 9 for me and Sept 23 for my husband! We are super excited to take this journey as we have tried everything you can think of over the past 10 years together. We have over 300lbs combined to loose

I’ve been feeling so nauseous and can barely drink 11 ounces of that premium milk stuff in 24 hours, for the last eight hours I’ve only had perhaps 3 ounces of the entire thing mixed with water, I have been sipping all day, and the container still seems full. How is that even possible? my nutritionist told me that if I don’t up it, I’m gonna get dehydrated, I guess my taste buds have changed everything taste and smells disgusting, I cannot swallow it, from the sugar free Jell-O to the Popsicles, broths and premiere Protien shake. I feel like a picky toddler,? Plus I have no appetite. I cant help it.

Have you tried protein water or just regular water? Would gravel help nausea?

I have not heard of protein water. I will do a search for it. However I did buy these flavor protein shots, but they are just so sweet and concentrated. I can’t stomach them either. i’m just trying to drink straight water now. I can’t wait for this stage to be over.

I just got a bunch of Protein2O and it is quite tasty. The Dragonfruit and the Peach Mango are my favorites. Definitely better than the premiere protein water.

Sugar free outshine bars were my friends. I have also been adding unflavored protein to my gatorade zero cause any of the protein shakes have been hurting my pouch. Hope it gets better!

My VSG is on Monday and I did the COVID test today. Fortunately, I didn't have to do the liquid diet, since I was able to drop 33 lbs since Aug 1st with a 1,200 cal diet and haven't cheated once. But I was out of the house today and seriously considered a "last meal" at a fast-food place since it might be my last chance for a long, long time.

But, I stuck to my Gatorade Zero that I brought and a protein bar and got small grilled nuggets.... so still on track for 1,200 today.

Hello

Thanks for sharing your challenges. What you are going through is normal. I can relate during the beginning stages but it will get better. But for now, do your best to drink something. Make sure you have water by your side at all times because you do not want to dehydrate. I know that food does not taste good right now and it is normal. Trust me, you will get better. How many weeks Post Op are you?

I’m finally back home, so uncomfortable, I bought my very own compression boots to use at home. But somehow today my arms, they hurt so much. Perhaps I’ve been using them so much to prop myself up lol. What I like the best, is that I’m not hungry at all.

Hello

May I ask what surgery did you get?

I had My sleeve done last Thursday. Other than some over medicating in recovery, surgery was smooth. The Pre l-Op diets work because they didn't even have to retract my liver at all. I went into Pre-Op diet weighing 325lbs and when I went into the hospital, I only weighed 308. Then yesterday at my PCP check up, I weighed only 298 5 days post-op. It is amazing

Hi there

I am so happy that you are feeling well after your surgery last Thursday.

Keep up the good work and welcome to the portal site.

I just had my surgery Wednesday and I was released yesterday Thursday, so far I’m feeling good besides the gas pains here and there and I’m drinking with no problem, my biggest complaint is the tiredness and my eyes are blurry

Good Morning

I want to start by saying that I am happy to see that your surgery is a success and you are back home recovering. I would advise that you try to avoid computers and electrical devices for the next few days in order to alleviate the blurriness. As for the tiredness, reach out to your surgeon and ask if you can begin to take your B12 vitamins now or can he refer you to go in for a B12 shot. You are fairly new to the recovery stages so let's see how you feel on Monday. I think that a lot of rest will bring your body into formation.

I has mine last week on Thursday. I'm surprised at how good I feel! I was nervous about getting enough Water but it hasn't been an issue. Pain is manageable.

The only thing I have trouble with sometimes is finding a comfortable position to sleep. Sometimes it's not an issue and other times -- like tonight -- I'm stuck awake because no matter which way I lay, it's uncomfortable.

I'm glad to hear all is going well. I had surgery on the 14th and im feeling better but still hurt when I stand or like you try to sleep. Sleeping is terrible and is really the only time I wish my surgeon prescribed pain meds. The first two days were constant throbbing but I found walking to help and again wasn't anything I couldn't live through.

I have been able to drink all the fluids and protein required everyday, so I am happy about that. I've been loving all the bariatricpal soups, hot chocolate and cappuccino so I can have the protein and fluids at the same time.
