Don’t get me wrong you guys. My revision was done on March 9 and I’ve already lost 35 pounds so I’m happy, it’s just not what I was expecting . I had the perfect sleeve but the pregnancies forced my pouch to spread. The last pregnancy I was on complete bed rest for the entire thing. I guess I’m sad

Same surgery date and have only lost 15! I do not have a lot to lose so I get it, I just thought it would be more when eating 750 high Protein, low fat, low sugar diet. And If I cant lose on a post diet, diet, then what? And yes I exercise.

On a positive note I have had normal blood sugar and off all meds since my first surgery. In 4 years with the sleeve was able to keep most of the weight off.

Don't get me wrong but how much weight loss did you expect during this time span? Revisions tend to lose slower. Yes, I can absolutely understand the need to get back down with the weight fast but this is not a matter of weeks as you already know. Expect at least as much time to lose the excess weight this time as you needed before.

And tell these toxic family members of yours that your weight and diet is none of their business. Might need a bit of yelling but it's worth it.

Hmmmm.... It says in, under your pic ,you lost 44 lbs? is that in the 4 year time? sleeve?

Your BMI and weight, couldn't have been to high to have that kind of loss?

That was my weight loss about the 6 month post sleeve weight, which is when I stopped posting. I lost another 10 lbs , then gained about 10 back in the last year once my GERD got really bad. Almost 55 lbs, gained back 10, now lost 15. So, all and all 5 lbs less then before GERD. Original BMI 35.5

Honestly it’s not about the actual number I’m just afraid to stop losing since it’s a slower process and I’m the one stopping myself after 2-3 bites. And I wish I could tell my family to leave me the hell alone but how can I when they are right? I did fail😔 I have 2 beautiful children from it but to ballon back after I’ve tasted the glory is so depressing.

I think the bigger we are prior to surgery, the more we lost after. And I’m restricting myself as if I had the sleeve lol.

Didn’t think they did gastric on that BMI.

Hi. I've been reading as many posts as I can for the last two months including this thread and I appreciate all of the insight and opinions. I just popped in to say after a GREAT DEAL of deliberation I have decided on the mini-gastric-bypass over the sleeve. The pros and cons equaled themselves. The final decision was made due to one important distinction. The MGB can be reversed. The Sleeve cannot. You can have surgery to go back to the way you were before WLS. This lightens the weight of "unknown complications causing a lifetime of misery" possibility. Just thought I'd share this.

Diabetes, blood pressure, and a couple of other health issues. So, they do, just not as common.

I could never stop myself at 2-3 bites unless I would feel full or queasy. This is something I guess I'll never get: the minuscule amounts of food and calories some people on here subsist on.

You need a second try, and that's that. How many things in life did your family members fail at before they succeeded at second or third try or maybe never succeeded at all?

It also doesn't matter if they were right or not. Still not their business.

I absolutely understand. That's why I totally get that you want to lose weight really fast. Like fast. However, you're putting yourself under a lot of toxic and unnecessary pressure.

Well I'm sorry people had issues with their surgery I must be very lucky the bypass has worked wonders for me and I feel like a brand new Man.

I had maybe one stall for a week in 8 months and I was able to reach and surpass all my goals the surgeon told me to stop losing weight LoL

I have no idea how I've lost 90 pounds because Im hungry all the the time and I have been since day 1. I had them check my pouch and i did that swallow test where I had to eat/drink this semi solid Jello like substance and I watched it slide right down into my intestines. So how am I losing weight? I have no idea but for me it's been VERY slow!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
