Major Stall

Recommended Posts

Hey guys so long time no see. Here’s what’s happened. I have lost a grand total of 258 pounds I now weigh 415 pounds. However I have hit a MAJOR stall. I’m talking about a few MONTHS. I exercise 5 times a week, eat healthy (IE: I meal prepped ground turkey avocado wraps this week as an example) and my body is not having it. It says it loves this weight and will fluctuate slightly but will not go down. I’m at a loss. Help!

if it's been a few months, you're in maintenance. You'll have to either cut back on calories - or increase your exercise (which it sounds like you already do a lot of) to start the weight loss again. If you're not logging your food, do that for a week or so so you'll know how many calories per day you're averaging. Then cut out about 100 calories/day for a week or two. If your weight doesn't start dropping, then cut 100 more calories. Rinse and repeat. Eventually you'll hit the level where you'll start losing again. Good luck! And congrats on the loss so far!

Intermittent fasting can do wonders. Whole food Plant Based (WFPB) lifestyle is also pretty powerful. (Watch "The Game Changers.") Dr. Michael Greger has a lot of "hacks" in his evidence based book, "How Not to Diet." It is filled with tweaks that can start whittling away at pounds

Congrats on your amazing weight loss. You might not be at your goal yet, but you are so much healthier even where you are. Do NOT get discouraged and start undermining yourself. You have done an amazing thing.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! You’ve achieved amazing results. I’m a newbie here and don’t have a lot of advice to give yet, but I wanted to commend you on your transformation thus far! The before and after pics are so exciting!

Congrats dude!!!! Are you weighing, measuring, and logging EVERYTHING goin' down your piehole? If it's a few months, I think you need to go see your nutritionist and tighten up the plan? You might have to start trickin' your body by changing things up now and then. I still do that to maintain. I almost never eat the same number of cals/carbs/protein, or fat each day. Some days are SUPER DUPER wlm low with IF. Some days are pretty high for me 1400-1500 cals. But over all average is 1100 in maintenance.

Congrats on the 248lbs! That's outstanding!!! Also, switch up the intensity of your exercise.

So you are coming up on 3 years post op in July? Losing 258lbs is a major accomplishment but at 415 that is still a ton of food to be eating daily. What does your weight chart look like were you losing steady the entire time or did the rate slow then grind to a halt? The first 100 I lost in 6 months and in the past 5 months ive only lost 14 more so it doesnt even feel like progress.

It slowed down and then grinded to a halt to answer your question @brent701

Okay everyone BIG UPDATE. I took the advice here on this forum and some more that I searched around for how people were breaking their stalls. I firstly did an intermittent fast for 24 hours. I drank Water had some tea (and prayed because PHEW your boy was HUNGRY LOL) and then I cut out all my snacking habits and increased my time between meals from every two hours to every four hours. I have lost 8 pounds since then. I started to interchange my workouts to include sometimes just a walk instead of weights and running. Thank you all and I hope this helps somebody else too💙

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
