Hey! Just introducing myself :)

Good morning!! I’m very new here, I ran across the site yesterday and thought I’d go ahead and sign up!

I’m 29 years old and a mom of 2. I just got married March 29th this year but we’ve been together for 7 years!

I started my journey March 22nd, 2019. I went to my initial consult one week before my wedding day lol. I didn’t know if I really wanted to have surgery at that point but the thought had crossed my mind many times so I began the process. I waited until after our honeymoon and for the wedding excitement to calm a bit before starting monthly PCP visits.

At my consult in March I was 292lb but at my visit to my pcp in May I was 312lb...wtf lol. Happy weight maybe? It needed to go..since my 2nd PCP visit on 6/25/19 I’ve lost 30lb so I’m pretty happy with the work I’ve put in so far. My husband had no idea I weighed over 300lb but I’m “proportionate” so it’s hard to tell exactly, but I knew.

Anyway. I spent my 6 months researching and educating myself on this surgery, reading others stories, the good and the bad. I’m definitely having the surgery and I’m excited!

Today is actually my pre op visit with surgery set for December 16th!

I’m open to any advice, suggestions, or stories! I’m excited to y’all with you guys!

Welcome to the site! This is a very friendly and supportive community. My advice is to be on the lookout for people who have surgery the same time (roughly) as you. It's wonderful to go through the process with buddies going through the same thing at the same time.

Wising you an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery!

Thank you!! Yes I’ve seen so many people who say they wanted this so bad, regretted and now are grateful for it. As well as the other way around, were scared but ended up with no complications and hardly any pain. I’m a pretty strong person and have a great support system BUT I know this is a life change and I pray my strength continues mentally. I’m trying to prepare myself for “the worst” (as far as healing, pain, learning to use my new tool, transitioning into a new phase, etc.) but hopeful for the best experience!

I am blessed with a lot of support from my family & friends. That helps make my journey easier.

Between this site & lots of informative YouTube videos, I have felt encouraged, been inspired & become more determined to succeed.

Awesome to hear!! I also watch a lot of videos and do a lot of research. I feel that the more knowledgeable I am about the surgery, the more I feel comfortable with my decision!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
