Recommended Posts

Hi . Im on week 9 post surgery . Today I had 1 weetabix and 1/2 a banana for lunch . 1/2 an hour later, I had griping pains coming in waves , thought I was going to be sick and had diarrhoea. I felt ill for about an hour . Has anybody had this ? Wondered if my stomach doesn’t the weetabix or the amount too much ?

Could be dumping syndrome. weetabix does contain real sugar.

Wholegrain Wheat (95%), Malted Barley Extract, Sugar, Salt, Niacin, Iron, Riboflavin (B2), Thiamin (B1), Folic Acid.

I’m too far out to remember diet progression. If you are on real food stage. You might want to introduce Protein and items on your plan slowly to find what you can tolerate.

This was EXACTLY my first thought while reading your post. I'm not familiar with Weetabix, but I know bananas also have a lot of natural sugar.

Maybe it was just too much sugar at one time. I know I can tell if I've had too much sugar. I just don't feel good. Maybe not the nausea/diarrhea, but I feel like crap for about an hour.

Aah! That’s interesting Healthy life, I assumed because weetabix is on my plan of things we can eat , that it was ok and that it didn’t have sugar, should have read the label ! I’ll steer away from it in future! Thank you so much 😊

You basically just had a full carb meal. That drives up your blood sugar, resulting in an insulin spike which dumps your blood sugar back down and shoves all those calories into fat storage - not fat burning. Cereal should wait until maintenance and fruit (especially high carb like banana) should really not be in your menu yet, either. Where is the Protein in that meal?

Sometimes its trial and error to see what your new stomach can tolerate. Take it slow. *smile*

When I initially stated to have fruit with natural sugar I made sure I ate Protein and fat with it. So I had my Protein Shake or a piece of lunch meat when I ate a bite of banana or berries. Now I can eat a few bites of fruit on its own at 8 months out.

Thank you . I will remember that . I didnt realise weetabix would cause so much trouble as it was on my list of my foods I could have , but I’m learning a lot from here . Thank you 😊

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
