Im home today and banded...

Recommended Posts

I was just banded on 1/12/05. I have had 3 c-sections with all 3 of my boys and let me tell ya, I can handle pain. The first week afte the surgery is still fresh in my mind. It was painful, especially the muscle they cut to get the port in. That hurts for a good week and the gradually subsides. Burping really hurt me and coughing and sneezing were horrible. The good news is that by the beginning of the second week, you will feel like a new person. Those things don't hurt anymore and you feel energetic and motivated. It is important to walk, walk and walk. Don't lift anything over 10 pounds (a gallon of milk weighs 8lbs) and take it slow. If you can, rest/sleep as much as possible. When you start on full liquids, you will feel much better. Protein Shakes, carnation instant Breakfast with skim plus is chocolity good, Soups and yogurt. You will be able to sleep better too. The food cravings good away and when you eat a good cup of Soup it is yummy. I hope you are feeling better. I just wanted to let you know what you have to look forward to from someone who just went through it. 2 weeks makes a big difference. And don't worry about moving your band, it is pretty hard to displace and coughing will not do that. Good luck and keep asking questions.

Thank you all..

Today i am feeling better. still havent burped.. but have coughed/sneezed and ouch!

Im working on following the guidlines and trying to realize when im hungry or not... or full or not..

im a little frustrated cuz my mom is continually trying to feed me.. she and my sister are also overweight.. and i went through the instructions with them several times about how i have Water at what time, and how much to eat. and every single day shes like.. ill make you chocolate moose, how about some ice cream.. and i keep saying no i cant have that.. and she gets upset.

a bit frustrating...but, i guess they will understand with each day that goes by.

Sweetness, my husband likes to feed me, too, regardless of Band rules. So last time I saw my surgeon, hubby was with me, and my surgeon looked right into hubby's face and told him the rules. Chris has been much better since then. Fight fire with fire, ask your surgeon to call your house and ask for your mother. It's hard enough fighting cravings without people shoving chocate mousse under your nose! I wouldn't have been able to resist that!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
