Contmplating the Gastric Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I am serioulsy considering the gastric sleeve. I am 42 yrs and nearly 200lbs over weight.

I am a thirsty person and always guzzle my drinks before, during & after meals. I know post op, sipping is a must during recovery for weeks/months. Will I ever be able to chug my Water or will I always have to sip???

I am also a chewimg gum lover! Will I ever be able to chew gum again? Again, I know post op, this is not recommemded, but maybe a year; post op?!?!?

My worries seem trivial but these are pleasurable things for me. I need to mentally prepare myself if they really are a "no go" forever after surgery.

the sipping part is true only during the first few months post-op. I'm over four years out and I think my water-drinking speed is about the same as it was pre-surgery. Same with gum - I've never been a huge gum-chewer, but I chew it occasionally again.

I am a month out and I can guzzle and chew gum again, But before the critics slam me ….. This is exceptional. As my Dr stated "Every human body is different' listen to your body"

Prepare yourself by looking at the positives you will get out of bariatrics. Sipping Water and not drinking with meals becomes a new normal. The changes you make are worth your weight loss results.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
