Last night I woke up in the middle of the night suddenly coughing up stomach acid. I used to get frequent heartburn from eating too fast but never really an issue. Since having the surgery my sleep apnea has improved dramatically. I got an oral appliance years ago but never use it. Have not used a cpap either. I was able to convince my pulmonologist that I did not need a sleep study again prior to surgery but I probably should do another sleep study just to see if my results come back any better.

Sounds like reflux...

This has happened to me 3 times now since surgery and each time was because I went to bed too soon after eating.

Could this be the issue with you as well?

YES last night I did eat right before bed and this used to happen quite frequently when I would snack in the middle of the night.
