Anyone else scheduled for October?

Recommended Posts

I don’t typically wish the summer away but I sure wish it was October and we could get this show on the road!

Lots of pre op appointments coming up but other than that I am just waiting patiently.

I have been working on journaling my food and thoughts. Making small changes. Setting small daily goals. I’ve lost 8 lbs since July and would love to drop a few more before 10/15/19 Surgery Date. I’m not dieting per se. I’m just making small changes and the loss of 8 lbs is due to those changes.

I have been enjoying reading everyone’s posts and I look forwarding to finding others October people.

Thanks for reading.

October 1st surgery day for me! Trying to be patient now but do not start my pre-op appointments until 9/6. During the testing process I was put on a blood pressure medicine that made me gain some weight (almost 15 lbs- mostly Water weight) but I have had them change that med. Now I am trying out the pre-op diet ahead of time and have lost all 15 lbs I gained because of that experience. Making small changes too like cutting out my Diet Coke addiction😀. Also realizing I need to pay attention to drinking at meals - that is a habit I need to do some work on now! Getting nervous about how long I really need to be out of work because we have some major changes occurring and I hope I can get back to work as quickly as possible! Waiting on my official insurance approval too, so I hope to get that within the next week. Glad someone started an October thread, can’t wait to hear about everyone’s journey here!

I am hoping to be out of work for 2-3 weeks because I have a strong feeling that I am going to be super fatigued in the first few weeks.

I have Cardiologist appointment next, then endoscopy, then GP medical clearance appointment and one final nutrition appointment.

I have been on BP meds for years now. I would be thrilled if I can get off of them but it runs in the family (even the thin people) so I suspect I will still have to take them.

Glad there is someone else set for October! I was getting worried! Lol

Oh good! There are a few of us here!

Are any of you trying to diet? They told me I don’t have to until the pre op but to start making better choices. I have dropped 9 lbs doing that.

However, I would like to lose some more prior to pre op because I know the results afterwards will only be that much better.

I wish it was here already!

I am trying to diet but my weight loss is very slow...trying out eating shakes and sticking to mostly Protein to get myself weened off sugary stuff. I am confused why my weight is holding on though...I am eating wayyy less than I used to.

I need to get a few more lbs down so that I am below what I weighed in my consult months and months ago.

I too am ready for this day to get here now!

Not getting too serious until nearer to surgery..

Surgeon didn't specify an amount to lose but adapting with preop diet and mentally preparing for surgery and life afterwards.

Even so I am making little changes but will start shakes only diet before surgery to fully detox and prepare and shrink liver.

Have stocked up on Protein powders and plan to live off shakes for as long as possible.

I just ordered the ISO 100 in Cookies and cream and it is a tad too sweet but I can dilute with more Water.< br />
I am also starting to pick up the Vitamins and supplements.< br />
I will probably be drinking shakes for life as I am not a big Protein eater.

I had the lapband for 5 years and I typically threw up from protein. I hope I don’t have the same issues with the RNY.

I am scheduled for RNY on 10/14. I’m nervous and excited. Still need to do some tests. I haven’t order any shakes or anything but I am wondering what is a must have for the first weeks after surgery. Vitamins, supplements, abdominal binder, etc?

I don’t want to stock up on shakes since I have heard that taste can change after surgery. What are your thoughts?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
