I'm 4 months post op bypass. Does anyone know where our macros should be? I'm wanting to log food in my fitbit app. Also what is a healthy calorie intake? I'm not looking for peoples opinions just if you've spoken to and gotten this info from your Dr or nutritionist or if you yourself have a background in nutrition. Thank you. I WILL be double checking with my own team but won't be able to until Wednesday and just wanted some info to get me through the weekend. Thank you!

I've logged everything into myfitnesspal since day 1 post-op surgery (actually I was doing it was for months pre-op too). My nutritionist told me 600-800 calories with 60 g of Protein daily

My dietitian said they won't give any macro advice until 12 months out, and just be concerned with meeting Protein goals. BUT, I did weasel out information from her because I told her my trainer wanted that information. This was at about 5 months out. She said since I was working out seriously hardcore, I should be getting 1000 calories a day, 90g of protein, and 100g of carbs. That is usually the standard at 12 months, she said, but because of my workouts I should get that now. BUT, in reality, at 8.5 months out I eat 600-700 calories, 100g of protein, and well under 50g of carbs per day and I am doing just fine. NO WAY could I shove in 1000 calories a day.

I was told by my NUT at least 800 calories per day.

I *sorta* remember the literature that was provided to me pre-op said that months 2-6 post op, I was to aim for 800-1200 calories with at least 60g Protein. In reality, at my 4 month mark, MFP tells me I was averaging 500 cals and 50g protein (**this is actually surprising to me as I actually thought I was averaging closer to 65 until I checked just now!**). My nutritionist was aware and was not overly concerned at the time.

I'm almost 9 months now and MFP tells me I average about 1500 cals & 75g protein a day. But, I am also no longer trying to lose weight, and I exercise way more now. The increase in calories is more due to higher calorie foods choices (i.e, fat) rather than volume as my stomach still can't take in too much at time yet.

Oh, and I'm pretty short (5'2") so that factors in to my stats as well.

Try using this calculator if you are into ultra-low-carb eating (just make sure to put the minimum grams of protein you want to achieve). But if you are carb-friendly, it may not be for you:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
