Hormones??? What is going on with me?

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery a week and a half ago. My doctor told me that I would find my hormones changing and effecting me but I didn't realize it would be so soon. For the past three days I have found myself being overly emotional about simple things, whether it be news stories that make me feel like I want to cry or even movies that are very moving. Is this the norm. I read that hormones after surgery are effected by not eating carbs and insulin in your body kicking in which effects serotonin levels but what does that really mean? I am in no way complaining and I am very blessed that I was able to get this surgery but have others experienced these enhanced emotions and how do you deal with them? I am an emotional person in general and wear my heart on my sleeve but even this is out of the norm for me. Any helpful replies would be wonderful.

Thank you and blessings!!!!

very common. Another often heard reason is that estrogen is stored in fat cells, and when you start losing weight quickly, the estrogen floods your system. Whatever the reason, it'll stabilize after awhile.

It could also be the anesthesia leaving your system. I have quite often found myself an emotional wreck 5-14 days after a surgery. I’ve had 12 surgeries in my 54 years!

I think it's a pretty normal reaction after any surgery. I am currently recovering from a hip replacement done 2 weeks ago. Initially, I was asking myself, "Why am I so grouchy?" That is so not me! On Monday, I chose to be alone because I was having one of those "hormonal" days where everything made me cry! Also, not my norm! I think it's just the bodies reaction to major "trauma." Yes, surgery is traumatic to the body. Also, result of anesthesia, medications, pain, change in lifestyle...Hang in there...it's gonna get better! You will feel normal again soon.

I was angry and irritable. Like, very angry. The most insignificant things pi....ticked me off. I'm 2 weeks and 2 days out and believe my anger is subsiding.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
