How much excercise after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve done may 31st 2019. My surgeons office isnt the best with giving information unless i ask them. I emailed them asking how much excercise am i supposed to be doing right now? Im in liquid stage still. They said excercise is always good but remember u just had surgery so baby steps.

What does that mean?? I like directions and that wasnt what i was hopeing for.

Am i supposed to be walking everyday for 30mins or an hour?

Am i supposed to be jogging i just dont know what will help my weight loss. I have been the same weight for 3 days now and not exercising until my docter said it is always good so wondering how much??

I dont think getting a gym membership at this point is good right?

I guess i thought the first month was healing time so i didnt need to do anything???? Someone know whats best???? Thanks

Walking for now at your own pace. I started to walk on the treadmill one week after surgery for 30-40 mins. I tried the elliptical at 2 weeks out but did not have the strength and stuck to the treadmill. I am 6 weeks out and started spinning 2 weeks ago and the elliptical machine is a breeze. I am waiting for clearance for weights next week once I see my medical team on Wednesday.

Congratulations and good luck.

My surgeon suggested (strongly) that I get in one hour of walking a day, in 2 to 3 separate walks. I have yet to get there! I walk 30 minutes in the morning and workout with a personal trainer 2 times a week for an hour. Im 3 months post op.

i think they re worried about blood clots after surgery so that is why they tell you walk around..and also about post surgical pain.. it can help to walk around...

They kept me in my room, on 02 and on Leg Pumpers. I would much rather walked , met other recouperees and not felt like I was under punishment, for my age or something worse! If I had not had my son staying with me, I would have died of loneliness. They just came in once a shift, did my vitals and then left, hardly spoke to me, since I had only got to Protein Shakes before dismissal, I didn't even see Dietary!

My doctor recommended walking 10 mins of every hour for the first 6 weeks. He will not clear me for exercise until my 6-week appointment.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
