Have you tried pop cycles to keep you hydrated? I bought clear flavored Protein Water and will be making some out of it so my pop cycles have protein. You are still beginning so it will get better. Keep walking a lot your stomach area has been filled with gas to make it easier for surgery so you need to move that gas out. Walking helps you do this. Keep in touch.

So happy you are feeling better. Getting over surgery is difficult but it is like childbirth and it is forgotten when you see progress. I remember 9 years ago I had a lap band put on June 29 and on July 4 I got to suck the juices off a grilled hot dog then I sipped my broth and cried. This year I'm eating that hot dog because I am having my sleeve surgery July 30. Keep us updated and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Tuesday July 9th for me. Tomorrow is my last day of solid eating....then I go on clear liquid sabbatical on Saturday.

I won't lie. I'm scared. I try not to think too much about it. Just...getting through it.

I can do it.

You have our support. I'm July 30. I have a few foods lined up to eat before the pre-surgery diet. My husband thinks I'm nuts as I want collards, hot dog, hamburger, and my favorite salad. Oh, shrimp and grits too. That's it. Nothing crazy. That should take all of next week. I'm having peach cobbler Saturday then next week I start my pre-surgery eating One healthy meal a day off of their sheet and Protein Drinks. Good luck to you, if you get worried we are here to support you.

Thanks guys. Just...the idea that my stomach's gonna be cut on makes me squirm.

Painkillers. Netflix. All the sugarfree popsicles and Water I want. Protein drinks. My cats.

First week is gonna be rough, no lie. Eating some Snacks tonight as a last hurrah before I go on liquid sabbatical. Gulp.

Good luck and keep us updated. I start my restricted diet next weekend and have a pool party two days later. I will and can do it. I'm starting now thinking of food as not my friend. Good luck!!

My surgery is already scheduled for July 31st. I received a letter from my insurance company, Anthem BCBS on Friday denying my request for my sleeve surgery. They claim I have not met all my requirements which I have. I've been under my surgeon's care since December. I have met all my surgeon's requirements. BCBS is saying I have not been on a supervised diet for 6 months. I plan to appeal their decision but this could not have happened at a worse time for me. I just found out I have 60 days to move!! Its been very stressful the last few days. I'm super bummed and feeling frustrated and overwhelmed by everything [emoji24]. I've worked so hard to come this far and to get all of this bad news at once. I'm praying everything works out as it should. I'm so depressed.

Five days after actual surgery and I must say I’m shocked at how much better I feel from day after.

Posters who are scheduled this month my biggest piece of advice after surgery...

get yourself up either in your house, or in the hospital if they keep you overnight, and walk till you fart or burp. Gas Is the major thing giving you pain and discomfort.

Now that it’s all gone i feel much more clear minded. I am focusing on the queues my new stomach gives me and so on. Not much pain to it.

In fact I feel great! I have so much more of a different outlook on life knowing I can achieve a body now that is capable of a better QUALITY of life. While being able to self control. It’s amazing how DIFFERENT my appetite is already. I am looking at food in a completely different way. I really think my yo yo days are behind me. I have never felt like this.

GOOD LUCK GUYS!

I am so sorry to hear about your insurance issues. That just sucks. It took me a long time for approval as had to have one other condition other than the weight, and I had nothing. I hope things turn around for you.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
