Day 10 of my 14 day pre-op diet. Seems like extreme measures to get healthier but like most others it seems to be the best chance at sustained success.

5'9 and my max weight was 296 a few years ago. I was originally referred for surgery at 278 and crawled up to 296. Slowly leveled back down and was 274 before pre-op diet. Today I'm 260. My diet is the Slimtime shakes and Protein Bars. 3 shakes and 2 bars per day. 1070 calories I believe. My dream weight is 190 although breaking 200 and maintaining will be life altering. I have two young sons that I had late in life (I'm 45) and need to ensure I'm around as long as possible. Not just around but living a great quality of life. I was always very active and played competitive sports right into my mid 30's but when off to university the freshmen 10 hit and I slowly crept up over time. Every time I lost weight though a few years later I regained plus more. The last time I made a real concerted effort was to go from 276 down to 245. 3 years later I was 296. My reason for choosing surgery is the fear of breaking 300 if I were to try it the old fashioned way. So here I am. Very nervous but excited at the same time.

Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences as it's helped me prepare mentally for the process.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
