Stopping estrogen before surgery?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I had a total hysterectomy years back and have been on estrogen pills since then. My surgeon asks that patients stop HRT or estrogen 1 week before surgery, to help minimize chance of blood clots. Does anyone else have any experience with this? It has been pretty rough... the headache was sooo bad after just two days off and has not relented at all. Migrain like I have not experienced in years and years, though I used to get them frequently. Throwing up, light aversion, the whole ball of wax...

I might have attributed it to the liquid diet I am also on, except I was a week into that before stopping the estrogen and had not experienced headache up till then. I am going to do what my doctor advises and stay the course, just curious what others experienced and were advised.

Anyway, if you got this far, thanks for reading a hungry, hurting, stupidly weepy girl's post. lol...

Not That Bad a post, you're speaking from the 💘And no one should fault you for that!
I am on the other side of the coin in one respect, Doctor just recently asked me Are You sure You Haven't had a Hysterectomy? like I haven't paid my dues. I'm pretty sure I would know and nobody ever told me it was a prerequisite to Bariatric Surgery any way. Makes me feel like a slacker, after all! Told my
inquisit or You WAnt it, you can have IT, at 73 no great loss anyway! And then at least One Of Us will be Happy, Doctor Dear!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
