Hi. New here. Liquid diet starts tomorrow! Surgery is in 15 days!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! My name is Tiffany

A good friend recommended this forum and I’ve been reading and it feels so supporting and welcoming!

I was given my surgery date today and in 15 days I’ll be getting the gastric sleeve! I’m terrified but I really need help getting rid of this extra 200 lbs! But I’m a little worried about the liquid diet. I used to fast a lot (religious reasons) but never just liquids. I work at a very stressful clinic and while I’m currently on the Keto and loving it, I was hoping y’all had advice as to how to handle temptations or avoid feeling weak and such. Also, can I take Vitamins during the pre or no? Thank you so much! Please send the good vibes over because I am freaking out! But I’m also excited. So excited! I look forward to finally being able to control PCOS. I know there’s no cure but a chance at controlling these symptoms would be great! Xoxo

Congrats on getting a surgery date and good luck on your WLS journey. Yes, I would recommend Vitamins at any stage. And during the liquid stage the Protein Shakes will keep you fuller than you'd expect, you just have to keep the head hunger at bay. Good luck!

Hey Tiffany, welcome!! I’m soooooo excited for you! I believe i was told to stop my Vitamins a week before surgery and certain meds, you should definitely ask your surgeon this question because each surgeons rules are different.. the way I handled and handle temptations when I do have them is ALWAYS remember why I did this in the first place, remember how it made you feel so unhealthy, and always remember that you’re in control .. it can get mentally hard and emotional but it does get so much easier and better! I think just the first weeks are hard and then you just start getting used to it.. don’t worry girl, you got this! I believe in you, you’ll do great!!!!!

Hi! I think we're surgery twins... May 16th!

I started phase 2 of my liquid diet (5 Meal Replacement shakes, 200 cal specific veggies) today. For the first part of my liquid diet, I struggled a bit initially with cravings. The worst has been cooking for my family and not being able to join them. Now I've become pretty good at distracting myself. Any time I feel cravings or hunger that can't be fed at the moment, I do a mini workout. Some stretches, a few wall push ups, or some marching in place. It helps a bit.

As to the Vitamins, definitely check with your surgical team. I am to stop mine 3 days prior to surgery, and then all but one of my prescriptions the day before surgery.

The nerves are real, but this is a good step. Good luck on your journey!

Omg I’m on the first Protein Shake and some broth! And went food shopping with my husband and watching him eat right now is torture. But I’m just walking around the apartment and going to stretch a lot. My PCOS symptoms are terrible so my body is in a lot of pain and my cycle is basically all year so I’m drained. I hope that by day 3 I can start working out without feeling so pained and exhausted. I’m so happy for you, love! Sending you all the good vibes. We are doing the damn thing!!!! Can’t wait for post op results!!!! 🤗

tiffany, I too am thrilled to meet you. Just a world of warning, I know your cycles are nasty, well after surgery and your fat starts being used for fuel, a whole bunch of hormones will be released, one girl said hers was like puberty again. You may have weird cycles for a period of time, most everybody young enough start bleeding right after surgery. But it gets better, another girl quipped. I'm not crying from my eyes but my uterus sure is! Said she wasn't due for 15 days but Aunt Flo decided to pay an early visit. But it will help with PCOS, I even had it way back, that's why there was 7 years between my 1st 2, last one came 3years after that, and we were not doing anything to avoid them, I was just sub-fertile because of our 4-letter friend.

Weekdays are easier for me at the moment as I'm a SAHM and getting through without family distractions is helpful.

My cycles have been erratic for the last couple of years, due to perimenopause, but if things hold true to my luck and the pattern I've been on, surgery day will also be cycle day 1. Fun times!

Eyes on the prize, as my grandfather would say!

Omg! Same here! Thank you for the heads up because I don’t stop bleeding! TMI, I’m sorry! And I am afraid to get on birth control because I’ve been on them for so long before! But I also don’t want to get pregnant until after like 3 years! So I don’t know what to do. Thank you for the support. This forum has blessed my life!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
