Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

What do you take for a stool softener & constipation? Can you take it on a daily basis? I'm looking for something I can take daily because I don't get enough fiber in.

I was taking a Fiber powder supplement because I don't get enough fiber intake, but I wasn't having any problems with bowel movements, so my nutritionist said I didn't need the fiber. I think you can take daily Philips gel caps stool softeners to help.

I have always been very susceptible to Constipation and had a couple of really bad issues, once before surgery and once after. I saw my doctor about this and I started a program of benefibre in the morning, Laxaday at night and then the stool softeners as well. I use Ducasate, not sure if this is available in the states but something similar. I'm now 4 months post op and have switched my fibre to a more natural one than benefibre and use the Laxaday every second day now, soon to move to every third day until I can stop it completely. The stool softerners, I might take those from here on in as I think I needed that type of thing long ago. But check with your doctor. I have been fine with the program I am on and have not suffered at all doing this!

My sister uses MagO7 from Amazon. She says it's the only thing that's ever worked for her and her surgeon approved it. She used it pre-op and still uses it post-op.

Look for inulin powder. NOT INSULIN. Inulin is the best Fiber for even post surgery: it feeds the gut bugs and even just 1 tsp in your shake or Water or whatever can help in the #2 dept (and you can build up to more tsps if it isn’t enough). It has a sweetish taste but doesn’t digest. The gut bugs digest it, not us. (It’s made from Jerusalem artichokes.). It’s not a laxative: it actually helps your gut bugs get your food digested.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
