1 Week Water Pain

Recommended Posts

Hey There,

So I am 1 week out of having my gastric sleeve procedure. Doing well, no real pain around stomach stitches or anything. Up and moving. Eating Soups and puree just fine. I know my limit sort of when i get full and get hiccups or heavy breathing. However, Water IS KILLING ME.

I love water, always have. However I find it next to impossible to drink right now without feeling it slide into my stomach. My stomach clenching and rustling making noise. Feeling like throwing up in pain. Needing to lie down. Cold, Room temp, hot you name it. Pain. Sips, gulps. Pain.

I am struggling hard with this and have found myself crying a little bit as I am scared something is wrong and this is going to be the new normal for me. I am scared to go on walks because I become dehydrated. Scared to work cause if I drink I will just feel yuck

Anyone else going through this as well? Does it get better?

Thanks

Hey there... I have a similar issue. I can drink my Protein Shakes, eat Soup without any kind of problem...but drinking water....two sips and I feel that same kind of stomach clenching. I can drink Powerade zero fine to without that feeling... but plain water...not so much.

My stomach did similar things straight out - i could not tolerate plain Water, but if I was drinking flavored water - mixed with crystal light or other no-cal flavor, I could get it down. Everyday, temperature was an issue. Some days had to be room temp. Some days had to be cold. Had to keep trying for a while. Keep mixing it up. It will pass as your stomach heals.

I think it's a pretty common struggle after surgery trying to get Water down. The SF popsicles helped to get my water in for the first two or three weeks after surgery. I think the cold helped with the internal swelling as well.

I could only drink warm/hot Water for 2 months. Cold water was very painful.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
