Recent Surgery Diet Struggle

Recommended Posts

I just had my surgery this past Monday (March 11) and am concerned because everything I’m eating (which is basically just Jello since I’m on clears) is running through me. I know that this is dumping syndrome. But does it get better the longer out you are from surgery and when you’re getting back to “normal” foods?

Are you eating things that are sugar-free? Are you taking any meds that would cause it? I didn't have that.

I’m eating sugar free and spoke to the RN at my dr’s office and she said it’s just my stomach trying to get back to normal but I just wondered what other people had experienced. She also said I could be extra sensitive to whatever sweetener they use instead of sugar which I looked and was aspartame. I had the gastric sleeve

I had surgery the same day. I've been eating Protein Shakes, sf Jello, sf popsicles, sf pudding and Water. I havent had a BM since March 9th. I dont feel like I have go go at all. So I'm the exact opposite as you. I'm sorry to hear you are having these troubles. I currently don't have very many positive things to say about this surgery.

I am still pretty confined to my bed. I get up to walk and pee and that's pretty much it. I started Vitamins 4 days after surgery. They are chewable and I hate them. At this point I feel like I will never be able to be the person I was before surgery. I have serious "buyers remorse "... I am so hungry all the time. I drink two Protein Shakes a day. Plus lots of Water. broth tastes disgusting to me. I'm so sick of sugar free Jello and popsicles. At the rate I am healing it will be summer before I drive. If you cant tell, I'm just super down about this while dang thing. Sorry to vent. I hope you are having an easier time.

I am up walking. Went to the mall this weekend (although it exhausted me). I’m driving. No pain meds, No nausea meds (but have both in case I need them) I’m having trouble getting my Vitamins down so I ordered Patches from patchmd.com which was okayed by my doctor’s office. I was on clears the first week but I did go ahead and try some soft foods such as pancakes with sugar free Syrup and baked & sweet potatoes just because I couldn’t do anymore broth. I just made sure that I chewed everything to death and took SUPER tiny bites. This week is full liquids so I can do Protein Shakes and things like that. I’ve had my moments where I had regret but already being in medium pants and shirts from 2-3xl makes it all worth it to me. I’m an RN so I have to take at least 4 weeks off because I can’t be lifting and pulling on anything over 10 pounds. *actually the normal foods haven’t bothered me it’s been the clear liquid stuff like the Jello.

I was sleeved 2/20 And I have not successfully had one for Vitamin down since then. It has almost been a month ago. The second I eat them I am nauseated for hours or I started violently dry heaving. I have tried to take small nibbles but same result. I have been using the Patches for the last four weeks. I am putting them on religiously - 4 at a time each day. I did read that they are not FDA approved and there is some question as to the absorption of Vitamins through the skin and the effectiveness of them. That concerns me but the alternative is no vitamins at all....

Would you mind sharing with your doctors office said? I missed my postop appointment and I have not had a chance to talk to my surgeon about it. I like talking directly to the surgeon is sometimes his staff has told me things that contradict with what he tells me.

Factors Affecting the Growth of the Alternative Sweeteners Industry:
Health Consciousness: The increasing awareness among individuals about the health issues linked to high sugar consumption, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, is supporting the market growth. Consumers are becoming more health-conscious and seeking products that can provide sweetness without the negative health effects associated with sugar. This shift in consumer preferences is leading to a greater demand for low-calorie and natural sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol. These sweeteners offer the added benefit of having minimal impact on blood glucose levels, making them suitable for diabetic and health-conscious individuals.
Technological Advancements: Innovations in the production and formulation of alternative sweeteners are impelling the market growth. Advancements in biotechnology and food science are leading to the development of high-intensity sweeteners with improved taste profiles and functional properties. Innovations in fermentation processes enhance the production efficiency and quality of natural sweeteners like stevia and monk fruit. These technological improvements are making alternative sweeteners more appealing to both manufacturers and consumers. Enhanced stability, solubility, and sweetness intensity allow these sweeteners to be used in a wide range of products, ranging from beverages to baked goods.
Consumer Trends and Preferences: Evolving consumer trends and preferences are playing a significant role in driving the alternative sweeteners market. The growing demand for clean-label products, which are healthier and free from artificial ingredients, is offering a favorable market outlook. Consumers are increasingly seeking natural and plant-based sweeteners, aligning with broader trends toward plant-based diets and veganism. Besides this, there is an increase in the demand for low-calorie and sugar-free alternatives that support weight management and overall wellness. Food and beverage companies are responding to these trends by innovating and expanding their product lines to include options sweetened with alternative sweeteners, thereby catering to changing tastes and health concerns of modern consumers.
