So I cheated on my pre-op diet

Hello, So I'm on my pre-op 2 week liquid diet my surgery is February 1st. Prior to today I've cheated very little such as having a small bite of salmon or something but literally just a bite. And I was going strong until earlier this afternoon I served my self a plate of food and chewed it then spit it out without swallowing it, It's the early stages to an eating disorder and I don't think I'm at risk for it but just wanted a different texture other than soup and protein shakes. Did anyone else go through this?

Is your pre-op diet a liquid-only diet? Mine was just 1500 /day calorie-restricted diet so I could eat real food in the two weeks pre-op. After the surgery, your whole life changes in terms of eating because you can eat so very little at a time. I eat a small tiny bit about every 3 hours.

Every doctor is different on what they require patients to do prior to surgery. It also depends on our weight and all as the patient. The doctor is trying to shrink the liver so he can work on the stomach without complications. I do not recommend cheating as it will only hinder you in the long run.

My surgery date is Feb 1st too. I am day 11 of the 2 week pre op diet and I cheated on day 8. I ate 4 bites of cottage cheese. I felt so guilty that I called my husband crying lol I read that it takes 48 to 72 hrs for your body to absorbe food which made me feel a little bit better. But we are all human and it happens. I wouldn't start a habit of chewing food and spiting it out. But if you are doing it more then I would see a therapist to talk about it. Good luck!!
