What is the cause of post op nausea?

Recommended Posts

I’ve had nausea the last 10 days. DS surgery was in Mexico on 12/17/18. I have thrown up once, everything else has stayed down but the feeling of being nauseous sticks around pretty much all day. I went for IV fluids with some Zofran and Vitamins last Friday at an IV therapy facility. I definitely felt better after the fluids but the nausea was still there in the background. I’ve been able to drink more liquids since I had the IV fluids. I see my PCP tomorrow and I am hoping she can give me something for the nausea. My Mexican hospital told me to take Dramamine, which I have been doing while waiting to see PCP. I am trying to go back to work this week and do not want to barf at my desk.

So why do we get so nauseous after WLS?

I thought it was from the anesthesia and pain meds and the stomach's swelling and healing. It's a major surgery and traumatic to the stomach. I was told to expect nausea post-operatively anywhere from a few days to a few weeks and luckily I only had it Day #1 post-op and was fine upon discharge on Day #2 and haven't had it since. I was discharged with pain meds (which I didn't need) and also Zofran for nausea (which I didn't end up needing). Good luck when you see your PCP.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
