U look great ,and healthy ,tht is my goal to be healthier,I have a bad food addiction and wonder what I’m going to transfer tht too ,turn into a workout freak I reckon , I never had a weight problem till 30 happened lol then boom 💥 one day at a time though right ,what has been your biggest challenge to overcome? And what advice would you give on it ?

The best gift I got out of WLS was fighting and overcoming the mental battles. Some of this may be counseling and changing old behaviors over to healthy habits. Learning to live a healthy lifestyle was eye opening and exciting. Research research research! Take in all the information out there. youtube, read books, studies on WLS and documentaries.

And I pray you can lose before the ticking time bomb goes off. I had a son die of an ascending aorta aneurysm at 31, every time I hear or see the word " aneurysm" I quake inside, been 11 years on the 11th and sometimes it's like yesterday and sometimes like a nightmare you can't wake up from. Every year I send balloons to Heaven and try to volunteer somewhere to honor his memory. He was a very giving person and I was blessed to be his mother. But I would give all my tomorrows just to have him back. 💦

Tht is so sad ,was his in a inoperable place ,as well ,they told me “losing the excess weight is what would help”but I appreciate the prayers ,I was really scared at first ,but I have since got over tht fear, I thk ,god just comes and collects some of us early,
,I never did find out what caused mine ,but I contribute it the body weight ,when I met with my nutritionist I asked “where she been all my life lol ,cause tht is something we don’t understand when we are young and invincible tht hey the Big Mac is really killing us ,I wish I would had eaten better younger ,and earlier but hey it’s never too late right ,my heart bleeds for you ,but know tht life here is short and temporary ,and it goes bye so fast ,your son will be waiting for you at the gates ,where the streets are paved with gold and there is so pain ,tears ,or sadness , I wouldn’t know what it would be like to bury a child as I can’t imagine ,but he sure must been special ,cause I believe ,god takes the special ones early ,as Jesus was in his thirties as well .

Love, love my sleeve! I look and feel great. My only regret is not doing it sooner.
Everyone I know that had the band regrets it. I didn’t think they were still being done.

I actually don’t know anyone who had the sleeve. I went into surgery to have bypass and ended up with a sleeve. Not disappointed only that weight comes off slower. We have a granddaughter getting married in August and want to look good and look happy.

Hi Brittmarr1, I've noticed that that the weight loss is slowing down also. I'm still losing but not as fast and as much as in the beginning. I'm not going to stress about it, because I'm in this for life. I don't want to repeat the same mistakes I've made in the past. I would compare myself to other people and wonder why I wasn't losing as much weight as them etc. I'm going to be kind to myself and my body. If it takes me longer to get to the end of the rainbow, so be it.

They say it absolutely slows after 3 months . But exercise and sticking to the calorie , Protein and carb parameters helps to boost it again . My view is that as long as the trend is downward, not upward I am good !

i have been struggling a lot with loss these last few weeks.

Its so frustrating i am 2 months post op and was in a stall for 2 weeks only managed to loose 1 pound.

There are some benefits to losing slower but it has me feeling like im failing.

Down 21 pounds since surgery but January has not been kind to me :( seem to be stalling and stuck at 202lbs

I’m planning to have either the band or the sleeve and would love to hear back from people who had either of these and your thoughts? Did you have success? Did you have complications? How much weight loss and how long?
The band is horrible my friend blows up the stomach with band.I did the sleeve for me is the best surgery [emoji4] ...in the world but you have to understand ist just a tool that helps you.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
