Increased pain 2 weeks post-op? Normal or not?

Recommended Posts

I am 14 days out and am feeling pain in several incisional sites but mostly where the biggest one is? It wasn’t bothering me before until 10 days post op? Is this normal? I am about to run out of pain medication and am feeling really concerned? Could I have over worked things or is this just normal for this surgery?

That was your business one? Many doctors double stitch that one for strength, don't want you developing hernias either inwardly or pouching out. And remember you still have some inside swelling tugging on his handiwork. Try a heating pad on low and see if it doesn't help a little. But a pretty normal occurance for us bari-people.😝

I had the same issue around the same time and ended up calling the office. It turned out to be what Frustr8 said- normal! It's easy to be concerned about those pains when you're otherwise starting to feel normal, but you have to remember that your body has really been put through the ringer and will continue healing for several weeks!

The office told me to use heat, ice, or a combo- whatever felt best for me. I also continued on with my Tylenol early in the morning (stiff from sleeping) and later at night (aching from use during the day).

It's likely the stitch in your big incision, and one day you'll feel a POP. Freaky stuff but it's just the stitch dissolving to the point that it'll suddenly go.

Yes, I'm 4 weeks out and my left side still hurts like a bear. Was at surgeon today and she said a lot of trauma happens to that area and it can hurt for quite a while.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
