Anyone else's surgeon say no preop diet?

Most certainly - many surgeons don't bother with pre-op diets (other than the normal day or evening before surgery thing); our doc doesn't do them for any BMI level, while others like yours varies it

Pre-op diets vary surgeon to surgeon. My surgeon has two pre-op diets, determined by BMI: BMI below 50 is 2 meals, 2 protein shakes and BMI above 50 is just protein shakes.
I went to the Nut. today and she said that the surgeon doesn't have people with a BMI below 43 on a preop diet. She said they are not concerned re. an enlarged liver for lower BMIs.
I was surprised by that.
I am thinking I may not cut down calories but I will try to be low sugar at least a few days before surgery to shrink the liver a bit.
