Recommended Posts

I get spine and stomach pains especially when I sit down. The pain is very intense and I was wondering if anyone in these forums has heard of this. I had many mris done and they found 2 disc bulges.. if anyone has heard of this please let me know..

If sitting makes it worse it is likely related to the disc bulges rather than your WLS.

If you have a diagnosis of bulging discs your doctor may want to refer you to an orthopedic doctor and maybe prescribe physical therapy

the simple question is: are bulges related to pain or is the gastric sleeve related to this back pain?

Any rapid weight change will cause distress on your back. I pinched my sciatic nerve years ago, and it's been acting up recently. I'm about a week and a half post op and it's gotten very painful.

Since I've already lost like 25lbs, I figured that the weight loss caused it. That, and my stomach hurts, so I've been having to sit and lay in weird positions to be comfortable, which is putting pressure on my back.

I was told not to take muscle relaxers while my incisions and stomach are healing, so I've been trying to rely on Tylenol to help (spoiler alert: it doesn't). So, while I don't know if the bulges are related to it, I can tell you from personal experience that back pain is something I'm dealing with post-op.

Thank you for your help, I actually had the gallbladder removed and some cortisone or medial branch treatments for the back pain. For some reason it is very bad. I was wondering if those are bad for you the medial branch as I don't want to get surgery on the bulging discs but they discs for some reason cause a lot of pain.

Surprised weight loss would cause back pain, usually it helps ! I had back pain after surgery too but think it was 2 nights in that god awful hospital bed and then not being able to sit myself up without excruciating pain. I did a lot of core work and planks to prepare but still very sore . liquid Tylenol and some time on a heating pad helped . I also was adjusted before surgery by Chiro, wanted to go in straight ..

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
