Reflux AFTER Band removal

Recommended Posts

Did anyone have their Band removed and then get reflux? I'm not asking about reflux after getting a new WLS. I had my Band removed and am waiting to get the sleeve next month (my Dr does Band removal and conversion WLS as two separate surgeries so the stomach can heal), and I've just gotten awful reflux that started after Band removal. Anyone else?

Well I would think with no constriction of your stomach and/or esophagus it is very, very possible for such a thing to,happen.

I'm not having reflux in terms of acid coming up, but I still feel like 50% restriction where the band used to be. Yesterday I threw up twice from it [emoji24]

I think this type of stuff (as well as as reflux) goes away eventually, as the scar tissue from where band used to be eventually breaks down. At least that's what my doc says!

has the reflux and other issues gone away since having band removed? please tell me yes. I am 2 weeks post op and still have horrible acid reflux. I also had an ulcer and gastritis prior to removal so not sure if ulcer is causing problems or still from band.

UPDATE: when my dr did the sleeve, she noticed my stomach was super bloated and still had food in it. The cause - she had left a stitch in my stomach during the band removal surgery 3.5 months earlier, and that portion of my stomach made a pocket that was trapping food and causing reflux.

@marilyn1955: did your dr not prescribe PPIs for reflux. i'm on nexium for 1 year post sleeve

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
