I'm 7 weeks out I went from 274 to 225. I feel like it's not working. Is it possible. I stretched it out?

You lost 50 lbs. in less than 2 months and you are questioning whether or not it is working? That is incredible progress! When have you ever lost even close to that on a regular diet plan? It is working.

Not trying to be condescending but how much weight did you expect to lose in 7 weeks?

Here's my stats July 31st 335 pounds November 19th 272 pounds
Time elapsed since RNY surgery 11 weeks
With 50 pounds in 7 weeks you're at a fine rate, and you're a sleeve, they traditionally are slower losing. Stop sweating the small stuff! Sure I would like to be at my goal of 175 pounds, but it won't happen for a year to 18 months, in the, meantime I can't give up and neither should you!

You've lost 50lb in two months and you are discouraged? You must have some fairly high expectations unless your post is missing some pertinent information, for instance why do you think your stomach has stretched after only two months?

That's a BIG difference 😂, don't be discouraged it's super early on yet and from what I've read and researched a lot of ppl don't feel restriction and start dropping weight quickly until they're on actual food instead drinking all your calories which in turn probably doesn't keep you full? It's still SUPER early and I'm positive nothing stretched. Keep ur chin up as long as your loosing your going in the right direction and everyone's different.

I was hoping to be down 35 to 40 pounds

Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

I am at five weeks and down 15 is all. My surgeon said to hang tight...it's early days yet! He recommended I try and stay at or under 600 calories a day (I had been closer to 800, about half of which is from Protein powders). I have changed a few things and am getting around 600 calories, 25g net carbs or less, and I'm meeting my protein requirements of at least 80g and only having to do one Protein Shake a day. He said if I'm not losing 2-3 pounds a week in the next month or so, to call them and they will want to look at food logs. Everyone is different. I watched a lot of videos on YouTube of people freaking out over early stalls, and then I looked at their most recent videos. ALL of them still lost. Hang in there!

@jujusmommy07 I lose weight slow and stall often but it does come off, stick to the plan and it will come off. The scale may not move but inches are coming off, walk as much as you can or go to the gym...and please don’t compare yourself to anyone because we are all different and all lose at different rates.

I lost about 20 lbs in the first 3-4 weeks the I didn’t lose any more weight for 4 weeks, one day I got on the scale and bam!! I was down 7 lbs but within that 4 week stall I was losing inches and my clothes were getting very lose so I knew that I was losing.

You will be fine...you got this honey.

I spent a ton of time looking at others progress to see what is normal what isn't and that wasn't a great idea. I've learned to just stick to what your medical team has asked you to do and you will progress how your body determines it best to do so.

Don't measure only pounds, measure inches lost and how you feel. Those are also important, the book of You that you are writing will still be a best seller, Believe in You- for you are great and good and you'll still show the world how things are done.

I'm at 7 months and have lost 40 lbs...husband has lost almost 75. Everyone is different on how quickly they lose the weight but don't get discouraged. Stay on the high Protein meals and let your body do the rest.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
