Weekly check in!

Challenge Starting Weight: 177.6

Today's Weight: 174.0

Down 3.6lbs since challenge start

I woke up this past Saturday with no voice, so after being sick for 5 weeks I finally caved and went to the doctor on Sunday. Bronchitis & Laryngitis....🤦‍♀️. So my workout routine has been put on hold this week while I am recouping. I finished my Zpack yesterday and am feeling quite a bit better. I plan to get back to my routine of waking up an hour early and working out on Monday. I put it out there in the universe for you to see, so now I've got to keep my word! Despite being sick I still managed to keep my eating under control and not eating for comfort. Hopefully I can continue to slowly tick off the lbs!

I'm so excited that I can probably eat some smoked chicken. The last two times we went there I ate about 1/3 cup of a baked potato while jealously watching my family eat all the good stuff.

Checking in...

Challenge start weight: 238
Current weight: 233

The holidays have been a struggle. Too many “oh well, It’s Christmas!” cheats.

I have a month left of the honeymoon period and really need to take advantage to get some high losses.

I know as my weight goes down, the loss numbers will, too. It’s just hard to wrap my mind around- even though I know scientifically you lose 10lbs quicker at 300lbs than you do at 230lbs.

I need to stick to plan and stay on track!

  4. Fitness/exercise goal: Changing gyms in the new year. Also changing my workouts up.
  5. Total weight loss at the end of challenge: (Post January 1st 2019):

Check in: This is the time of year I start justifying food choices. . Each weekend I'm telling myself I'll get back on track and then blow it and eat unhealthy. It's a old crappy behavior that sets me back and has never served me well. I can eat like I never had surgery. It's a reminder of how easy it is to gain and how slow the weight comes off years out.

I'm maintaining and the gain is not out of control. I will get it back down. I am I feeling sluggish, have a headache, and craving sugar/carbs. I wanted to stay on track to rock a new years dress. I have 15 days to shake off this gain. Ugh what was I thinking.😠

Ugh! I feel ya sistah!!! So after particularly bad choices this weekend where I actually found to my horror that I do not dump...I'm up to 153 (from 148). Even though analytically, I know I haven't gained 5 lbs from a couple of Christmas Cookies and a few Lay's potato chips, I shudder at how quickly the pounds pack on me, and how slowly they are to leave as you say! :( Even in the honeymoon phase they take damn long to leave! *SOB*

I am such a great rationalizer. Why do you think we humans are so good at that? I do love Mondays cuz for the most part the top of the week, is habitually the time when I nut up and knuckle down on hijinx and get back into the right frame of mind...but by Thursday or Friday? I'm lookin' to sin again. *le sigh*

So today I went back and looked at the early months/calories/macros when I was losing so outstandingly. My plan is to resolve for 1 day only -- cuz I can endure anything for 1 day -- to use a menu from those days and eat according to that plan. By hook or by crook, I'm sticking the landing today. Then tomorrow, I will recommit my bad self. I guess maybe we'll talk again on Thursday lol...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
