Infection prior to surgery?

Recommended Posts

I went to the Start Clinic today to do my final pre-op stuff before surgery next week and they tested me for a urinary tract infection, saying they don't do surgery if you have one. Well, turns out I have one... but my surgeon sent me a note saying "it's not of immediate concern" and we will discuss it at my next appointment... which is next week, the day before my surgery. they didn't give me any antibiotics for it, either. do they give you antibiotics after surgery? is that why they are holding off, maybe, because whatever they'll give me will help the UTI, too? a little concerned... surgery next Thursday.

Sorry about your UTI. I don’t know about others, but I had my sleeve on 10/10 and they did NOT give me an antibiotic after surgery. I think it’s odd they didn’t give you any to clear up the UTI before surgery. Did they say why they didn’t??

They gave me antibiotics in my IV line before/during surgery. I don't know if it'd be enough to knock out a UTI, but they also didn't test me for that at any point.

I hope the UTI clears up and you get your surgery as scheduled. ❤️

UTI antibiotics are pretty specific. You should see about treatment prior to surgery. It is usually a 5 day script so there is time to fix it prior to your surgery.

I went for my final surgery clearance with my surgeon just over 2 weeks out from surgery and ended up having a UTI. Got some meds and he never mentioned it being a problem.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
