Hiyo! I'm Kim. 38 years young, single mom of 2 in Texas. I found this forum back in 2008 when it was still LapBandTalk. Since then I've been waiting for the opportunity to have surgery covered by insurance...fast forward to 2018 and that time has finally come! I work in the software industry focusing on secure enterprise and personal mobility. Our apps and hardware are used by 100's of thousands of US military, DoD and government members. I love weird birds, the 90's, the smell of Home Depot and severe thunderstorms :797_taurus:

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I've been rather busy.

Anyway. My job kind of has two parts. The first is doing a final proofread. I work for a newspaper, and the editor is the one who mostly edits over the articles. However, we do one final look just to make sure there isn't anything that's missed.

The other (and main) part of my job is putting the pages together. We figure out where the articles and pictures should go on the page, as well as pick out the national and international articles that should go in the paper. Then we send the pages to the pressman for printing.

Oh man, that sounds like my cup of tea. In another life, I'd love to put books, magazines, newspapers together! When I was in student groups many moons ago, I was always the one putting newsletters and brochures together!

I'm new here. I am a 44-year-old Graduate student earning a masters in Social Work. I have 2 kiddos and a hubby. I am obsessed with my Pomeranian, Rocket. I love traveling, going to amusement parks, the beach and the mountains. I watch too much TV and used to go out to eat and stuff my face until about 2 weeks ago when I suddenly lost 70-80% of my stomach. Weird.

HI! I'm a 52-year-old professional woman working in healthcare. I'm in the middle of obtaining my MPH. I love horses and pretty much anything horse-related. It's a sickness, really, but I've had it all my life and I can't get rid of it! Giddyup!!

Love this thread! 58 year old physician (radiologist) in NJ/FL; had lap band 2008 (removed 2015) now on deck for (and on fence about) gastric sleeve. Basically no hobbies but blessed with amazing friends and family. My main truth: dogs are the best thing in the world.

Hi Julie -

Welcome. I was banded in 2002 and was quite successful until I wasn't and slip, dilated esophagus, blah, blah, blah. Had it removed in 2017 and was totally on the fence about anther surgery. After I had regained all my weight, threw in the towel. Was sleeved in August 2018. Much easier to work with than the band. Down 60 pounds. I understand the hesitancy - but so glad I did it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
