KMac2018 got a reaction from bbbro in FrustratedI'm not making any assumptions but were you an emotional eater? I have found that since I am not able to eat as I used to that I am having a lot more anxiety. I realize now that I used to eat to help deal with my anxiety, now without food I am having to feel it. It's not comfortable but in a way, I feel good that I am not using food to cope right now.

KMac2018 got a reaction from jenifaoh in 6 days post-op and hungry??????Vegan, Gluten-Free
Ingredients
1 tablespoon coconut oil (or oil of choice)
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger
2 teaspoons curry powder
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 cup red lentils
2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into large dice
4 cups low-sodium vegetable broth
1 teaspoon sea salt + more to taste
Freshly cracked black pepper
1-2 teaspoons maple syrup (optional)
For serving: coconut yogurt and fresh cilantro
Directions
Select the Sauté setting on your Instant Pot and heat up the coconut oil. Once it's shimmering, add the onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.
Add the garlic, ginger, curry powder and turmeric and stir until aromatic, about 30 seconds.
Add the lentils, sweet potatoes, vegetable broth, sea salt, and pepper. Stir to combine all of the ingredients. Select the Cancel setting.
Secure the lid of the Instant Pot and seal. Select the Pressure Cook (or Manual, depending on your model) setting and cook at high pressure for 10 minutes.
Once the 10 minutes is up, allow a natural pressure release for 10 minutes. Open the Instant Pot and give the soup a stir. Taste for seasonings. You may want to add more salt, or to balance the acidity, you may want to add a teaspoon or two of maple syrup or sugar.
Once the soup has slightly cooled, top with coconut yogurt and fresh cilantro.
I added carrots and celery. It looks kinda gross but it was really tasty. I added a lot of salt...he he and I did add maple syrup

KMac2018 got a reaction from Temeka Silva-Perez in Has surgery 10 days ago, I was so excited Now Iam so depressedI had surgery on 1/27 and I felt what you are describing when I got home from the hospital. I had a full on panic attack and had to take a Xanax. Losing food as a coping tool is very hard for me, it's truly been one of the things I can count on my whole life. It's a major life change and that is scary, fear of messing it up, not feeling like myself...there was a lot of crazy emotions. Once I got a routine and felt like I was getting all my vitamin's, protein and water in I felt better. Also, I have a therapist and she answered my calls when I was flipping out and talking with her really helped. Also, though my husband didn't understand what I was going through he was very supportive.
It will totally get better, I am sorry you are feeling this way.

KMac2018 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in I know it's nobody's business BUTI tell people and if I forget to, my 11-year-old daughter tells them....ugh. I am a pretty transparent person but my daughter telling her friends parents wasn't in my plans. I've had people that I don't know very well asking me how I'm doing after surgery. Anyone I'm close to knows.

KMac2018 got a reaction from FluffyChix in Stress and poor food choicesI am so sorry you are going through this. I totally understand why you are stress eating. Do you have support? I am a big believer in therapy if you're open to that. Having a place to process feelings can really be a lifesaver through very hard times. Your children are in my thoughts.

KMac2018 got a reaction from Julie B. C. in 30 second elevator interviewI'm new here. I am a 44-year-old Graduate student earning a masters in Social Work. I have 2 kiddos and a hubby. I am obsessed with my Pomeranian, Rocket. I love traveling, going to amusement parks, the beach and the mountains. I watch too much TV and used to go out to eat and stuff my face until about 2 weeks ago when I suddenly lost 70-80% of my stomach. Weird.

KMac2018 got a reaction from GooseLucy in 6 days post-op and hungry??????I am not a good one to ask because I've gotten so hungry I had an egg and last night I ate some of my kids chicken breast. I know I'm not supposed to, but the chicken breast is the first time I felt full, not stuffed but full. I don't know how many protein shakes I should have. By like 1pm I've had 60 grams of protein. I have my follow up next week so I'll see what they suggest.
I have a coffee protein shake for breakfast-20grams
A premier protein water-20grams
Premier shake for lunch-20grams.......so by 1 I'm at 60...can you have too much protein in a day.
Good luck
