They took my drain out the day of discharge on 10/29. I was told not to put ointments on it. They said to just let it dry out. I did wash and pat dry. I was told I didn't have to cover it back up after I took their bandages off. My drain incision is completely closed with a scab now and its only been a few days

Thanks. I wasn't sure if I should put the ointment or not but didn't put it. The hole is almost completely shut so I guess I'm ok.

So yesterday I tried a fat free sugar free vanilla pudding and in a matter of 10 minutes I had the worst BM ever! I was glad because I hadn't had a BM for 7 days but till this morning I still had bad diarrhea and am wondering if any of you had the same issue with puddings or Jello.

I had my surgery 10/15 so I will be on soft foods for Thanksgiving. I'm going to my aunt's house and I told her about my surgery because she's nice and non judgemental. I may eat a yogurt, whatever, I don't really care what I eat, I just want to see her.

I'm having a weird experience today. This is the start of my week 4 and I feel very cold and weak. Like maybe I am in ketosis or need more calories? I'm having some Isopure Water now.

I was the same way after a fairlife chocolate milk. I thought my belly was never going to recover.

If I ever drink again, I’ll mix it with plain fairlife, but for now I’ve had my “sweet” fix

FlyAwayFree I had my surgery on 10/29 as well. I was on an emotional rollercoaster for the past 2 days. I got out the hospital on the 31st. I was fine but I couldn't get the 64 fl ozs of liquid in. I felt like a failure. I thought I was getting dehydrated and I was going to need to go back to the hospital. I didn't want to tell anyone how I was feeling because I didn't want them to look at me as a failure as well. So yesterday I had a talk with myself that I know I got this and I know I can do it.

After my last drink of Water before bed last night i drank 81.5 fl ozs of water......yay. Hopefully the talk with myself fixed me. And hopefully my emotions are back in check.

Did you get nausea medications? I wasn't taking mine but I did yesterday. No nausea now. It's so hard for me to drink just Water. I made myself drink 1.5 bottles because my urine was getting so dark.

This group is such a life saver. I love it. So don't ever feel alone just bring it to the group. We can all help each other.

You got this FlyAwayFree. You are amazing for taking the 1st step to change the rest of your life

Thank you so much, that was so kind. I started spotting last night, though nothing today so far (am premenopausal) so I am sure combined with my rollercoaster of emotions right now about food, surgery, and this crazy fatigue, pms hasn't been my friend... as if it ever is lol.

Yesterday, I had this crazy day where my stomach felt hollow... like I was starving and needed food so much. I am still on all liquids as per my surgeon and ended up drinking 128 oz. My nausea has cleared up quite a lot though I still hiccup a lot and feel that "stuck" feeling at first when I eat or drink anything.

I have been feeling super weird since surgery, disconnected or something. Like I am just going thru motions and not really in my brain. Today I felt a lil more connected finally than I have since surgery Monday, but its still weird. I don't wanna talk to anyone, be around anyone, or do anything.

At this point though, I am feeling physically a little better and just mostly struggle with feeling sooooo tired. Sometimes I can barely walk to the bathroom and back to my recliner without just dropping from exhaustion. I have to go back to work Thursday, so that should be interesting to see how I handle that.

Thanks for being here, I really appreciate you.

I was sleeved 10/2 and Work actually helped me to feel more human again. My brain became focused on other things rather then drinking, eating, etc. it gave me the mental boost I needed because I to felt withdrawn at times. Stay positive I promise it all gets easier! :)

I’m trying to get enough Protein and Water in but if I over sip I get a sharp pain. Is that happening to you too?

I do get a sharp pain right around the diaphragm and beginning of stomach every time I take big sips. It feels like a knot but it goes away fairly quickly.

I usually get 4-8 oz of Water every hour or so and also drink 3 Protein Shakes which equals the 60 grams of Protein I need. I end up with 64-80 oz of fluids everyday and that's good for me. Whenever I feel eating a little something, I have a sugar free 15-calorie popsicle or Jello and it does the trick.

Thank you!! Just made it and it’s delicious :)

Very good right? I am thinking that for Thanksgiving since everyone would love it! I can't wait for next stage food and be able to eat eggs and cottage cheese though :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
