October 2018 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

I haven’t had any alcohol since. I’ve had one coffee since which is a big achievement for me. I used to have one coffee a day for Breakfast and felt I couldn’t function without it. I used to drink a diet soft drink in the afternoon and haven’t had any since.

I've tried tons of stuff from the store. A lot of it is hit or miss. Some stuff I love and other things have been just sitting in my cabinets. What are you looking at specifically?

Just looking for the crunchy salty snacks...there are some chips there that I might give it a try. Any thoughts?

Have you tried Parm Chrisps yet? I get them from Sams Club. They are 100% parm cheese. Nice and crunchy and the serving size is HUGE. Half a serving size satisfies my craving. I did binge on them once and felt so mad at myself until I realized that my “binge” was 130 calories, 0 carbs, & 6 grams of Protein.

Friday I was cleared for all exercise. Super excited. I have a training session today and Pilates next Sunday! Yay! I was also able to put on a pair of pants today that didn't fit last year. Finally some downward movement in my waist size!

Also, a question - any late October sleevers (I was 10/29) tried some of the harder raw veggies yet? I am craving carrots (they've always been one of my favorite foods), but I'm a bit scared of trying them.

My doc/nutritionist said all veggies should be steamed for the first 4 months. I roasted sweet potatoes and carrots for 40 minutes on 425 with olive oil.

I second the parm crisps! They’re delicious!

Oops! Just looked at the label and it is 12 grams of Protein per serving. 25 pieces are 130 cal/8gr fat/0 carbs/12 grams of protein. I haven’t found a more satisfying, crunchy snack, that don’t lead to bad eating.

Another question...How are you guys faring with caffeine (coffee or tea) and wine? I haven't had wine or any alcohol after surgery but did have some caffeine and wonder if that sets us back or something else...

I brought it up to my doc on my 2nd post op visit because of the holiday season and he cleared me on alcohol in moderation as well as caffeine. I have a few shots worth every other weekend or so, but i did talk to him about it first. My suggestion would be to talk to your doc first. My surgery was on 10/23.

I second the Parm chips. They are also at costco and Walmart under different names. Whisps I think. And come in flavors.

I also like the Quest chips. I’ve had nacho cheese and bbq flavors. Both are good.

Your'e putting yourself in great risk by having alcohol so soon after surgery. Most docs recommend to wait at least 6 months. Your stomach is still healing and alcohol is very acidic and can mess with the healing process. You're also at a high risk of developing a dependency issue. Having two shots a day when you're probably only bringing in about 1000 calories a day isn't "light". You're definitely fooling yourself if you think that alcohol isn't having some negative impact on your weight loss!
Olay so..... Most docs, NOT all docs. This is something that I spoke with MY doctor about before I started. I got the okay. Maybe I should elaborate more. I make a mixed drink with less than a single shot and have yet to finish one. I have not ever gotten drunk since surgery, barely even a light buzz. Because I listen to my body. I don't consume more than 800 calories a day, including the alcoholic drink. I have lost 31 pounds and hit onderland. I have averaged over 4 lbs of weight loss a week. Please don't criticize me and my Journey. You're not me. I'm not fooling myself. I'm not dependent. I don't get drunk. And I'm still losing weight. We are here to support each other. You may not like that I drink, but you have no right to judge or criticize.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
