October 2018 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Almost everything I have got from there is Good Good Good. Why enrich Amazon, Wal-Mart.com and the others overstuffed pockets when Alex's Store at Bariatric Pal has good-tasting stuff. My Bari-bud Ellie123 liked the Snacks she purchased THERE!

Yes I have some of them are good and some aren't the Eat Me Guilt Free brownies are okay I just wish they had at least 1gram of sugar but they are moist. Some of the chips are good some were horrible its just like taste testing. I would advice you only order one of what you want to see if you like it then if so you can order it in a bundle.

Thanks! I'll get like one of each and hope for the best haha...I'm not into sweets but love crunchy salty stuff or sweet and salty will look for that.

Another question...How are you guys faring with caffeine (coffee or tea) and wine? I haven't had wine or any alcohol after surgery but did have some caffeine and wonder if that sets us back or something else...

My surgery was on 10/17, and I've been having hard alcohol and wine in moderation and it hasn't effected my loss. I make sure I put the calories in MFP and just adjust things if I drink. I also keep it very light, never more then 2 shots worth of alcohol at a time (per day) ever. But that is just me

I have been having a terrible time with caffeine. If I drink it it makes me really constipated. My doc said however much coffee I drink it negates the same amount of Water drank. So getting enough water per day is already hard and then having to drink even more to make up for the coffee is almost impossible.

I drink crystal light, if you like that, or I put cucumber in my water. Makes it a lot easier to drink it!

Friday I was cleared for all exercise. Super excited. I have a training session today and Pilates next Sunday! Yay! I was also able to put on a pair of pants today that didn't fit last year. Finally some downward movement in my waist size!

Also, a question - any late October sleevers (I was 10/29) tried some of the harder raw veggies yet? I am craving carrots (they've always been one of my favorite foods), but I'm a bit scared of trying them.

Good morning everyone!

Have any of you tried the Snacks from the BariatricPal Store?

I've tried tons of stuff from the store. A lot of it is hit or miss. Some stuff I love and other things have been just sitting in my cabinets. What are you looking at specifically?

I was sleeved 10/22 and have not had anything raw yet. Cooked, yes. And not mushy. Firm but cooked carrots and broccoli were fine I just had to chew them a lot lot.

Your'e putting yourself in great risk by having alcohol so soon after surgery. Most docs recommend to wait at least 6 months. Your stomach is still healing and alcohol is very acidic and can mess with the healing process. You're also at a high risk of developing a dependency issue. Having two shots a day when you're probably only bringing in about 1000 calories a day isn't "light". You're definitely fooling yourself if you think that alcohol isn't having some negative impact on your weight loss!

I am having the same experience. I love coffee but it has been making me constipated since I have had surgery, which is a bummer because it used to cause me diarrhea. My NUT also said that i need to be have an additional 16 oz of water for every 8oz of coffee I drink on top of my required 64 oz. I barely make it to 64oz a day so any additional drinking is out of the question. I just miss my coffee! lol

I had a REALLY hard time giving up coffee before my surgery. I didn't get headaches, I just felt fuzzy all day. After I went back to work I started taking a mint with the caffeine of half a cup of coffee every morning. Lately I am having a very small cup of coffee at Breakfast (3-4 oz.) It makes me LESS constipated and happier.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
