So, I am now 8 days post-op, and I am feeling better everyday. My latest issue is wanting to kill my family when we eat dinner. I know logically I can’t eat steak or even chicken right now, but I still want to cause bodily harm. It’s so bad, I am actually considering eating tuna in the next few days. And i loathe tuna. As I type this my husband is cooking hot links and crunching on something that sounds heavenly. Please tell me this gets easier.

It’s rough. I’m four weeks post op and there is left over chinese food in my fridge that is calling my name from my kids that I want to dig into but I can’t. If I gain I’ll be depressed. It supposedly gets easier. I’m waiting.

I'm figuring I'll be there in a couple of days. I had surgery this past Tuesday. Right now, I kind of have an aversion to food and even listening to my husband eat is food grosses me out! I tried to eat some Tomato bisque last night and didn't care of the flavor. So, it's all been shakes and yummy Bone Broth and I'm okay with that for not. My daughter did have some left over Pasta and chicken today that smelled really nice but for me the idea of eating it just wasn't appealing. I hope that lasts for me!

It’ll get easier once you can have solid food.

Still isn’t easy making food choices that you’ve learned but it gets a bit easier when you can eat a variety of things again.

It does get easier. And then it gets harder again. And then easier. And then harder! lol. Seriously. It is a wild rollercoaster. I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to relax and enjoy every moment, even the ones at the beginning where I could envision biting into a doughnut and just have my eyes roll back in my head in ecstacy. lol. It is during the beginning phases where you learn what you are made of and how important foods seems to be. You will get to a point where food will disgust you for a bit. In the end, you basically go back to where you started before the surgery. Which is good and bad both. It's good because you can eat again but bad because you can overeat again.

When you get to soft foods, this recipe will really help you get through it:

Baked Ricotta with Marinara

This is the one that everyone RAVES about!

8 oz of ricotta cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan

1 large egg, beaten

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt & pepper to taste

½ cup marinara sauce

½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly.

Thanks for all the replies. Even after a year and a half of research and prep, I am amazed how tough this is. I weighed myself this morning, though, and I am down 20 pounds from the start of the liquid diet.

Does anyone know how to change your profile to add details like surgery time, weight, etc.?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
