Doctors on Long Island

I am making the steps towards having the surgery but my main concern is finding a qualified, and reputable doctor in my area. I live on Long Island (Suffolk county) so if anyone know of any doctors that they have used please let me know.

Thanks

wow! It is nice to hear great things about Dr. Geiss. I had my first appointment with him last week and am finishing all of the reqirements next week so i can schedule my surgery with him!

what were your requirements with him-thanks elisa

I would think that it would be what your insurance wants more so then the Doctor. I know most now want notes from a 6/mo Doctor Diet.

I decided to use Dr. Geiss after all. I want to know since I cant see him till 3/5 I want to have things already done. I have an appt with their nutritionist and pulmonolgist regular Dr. for letter to ins I had already a cardiologist (stress test) What else do they require?-Thanks Elisa

Call Dr. Geiss' office and ask them to fax you the list of what is required for your insurance company to approve the surgery. His staff are very helpful.

I am a Dr. Geiss patient scheduled for thursday 3/13/08 check with your insurance company to see exactly what you need to get approved. I had to have 6mths supervised diet with my PCP before I was approved. GHI

Yes With my ins I don't have to wait 6months. I am still trying to make a decision if I am ready. I am doing it but I am almost dreading it. I know I havent been successful in any diet so I hope this will be the right decision. Who is your Dr? _Elisa

Sorry- I see you are with Dr. Geiss also. Can I keep track of you for a while? I would have it in beg of july. I teach and unless they could do it for 4/08 break I will have to wait to the summer. -Elisa GOOD LUCK I HEAR HE IS THE BEST. I went for my 1st appointment but I didn't see the Dr. I saw a lady who showed me a power point and explained eveythring had to leave to pick up my kids. -Are you in the syosset area? How are his group sessions?-Elisa

Hi...i was banded by Dr. Geiss 10/21/07 and i have to say since that operation i have had no problems whatsoever...and the staff is always on call to answer questions immediately...i felt very secure with Dr. Geiss even right after the surgery i had to call at 4am to ask a question and he answered right away...i think he is a great decision in a doctor...

Maybe someone here can answer a question for me please.

I am a patient of Dr. Geiss, the office called this morning and told me they have received all of my test results and consults and clearances and ins approval. Now it will go up for review and assigned a surgery date.

Can anyone tell me how long it took to hear back on an OR date once every thing was submitted?

Thanks for your help and info.

It should very quick ... a matter of a few days.

Thank you for your reply!

I got my call this morning and I am scheduled for May 7th.

So now the wheels are finally in motion.

Thanks again!

The guy at Northshore LI Jewish Hospital, Dr. Geiss I think, has done almost 2000 of them.
